Inventory space question
KainMagus
how much space for wepons and armor in the charactors inventory. How many suits of armor can you have, and how many can you take into battle?
thanks K
thanks K
Ensign
You have 45 inventory spaces, which you can fill with whatever you like. You can have as many suits of armor as you can store in your inventory - as each complete suit of armor is 5 pieces, you can carry at most 10 suits of armor with you into battle.

Is that 45 standard or max? If it's max then what is the beginning space and how do you get more?
Nova
Wow, thats alot of space. Awesome!
but don't ypou have to build up yourpack or soemthing?

Ensign
Max. You start with a 20 space backpack, acquire a 5 space belt pouch about five minutes into the game, and can buy two 10 space bags for a trivial amount of gold early on.

Sorry I forgot to ask in my previous post, how does the enventory work? Is it like diablo where you have to move things to make stuff fit? Or is it like most mmorpgs where you have 1 item each slot, with some items stacking.
(also is there/where is the spell check for posting?)

I think that was already answered but if not, and Iwas mistaken can someone who has played please answere Paper's question?

Kind of - you have 45 spaces for 45 items, there are exeptions to this for crafting materials and things for collectors. They work like gold one spot for each specific item but you can carry multiples (ie one spot is taken up by 15 wood)
Loviatar
i read that the crafting materials planks ingots etc can stack well over 100 of each
i forget the exact figure but it is large

Crafting materials, junk items, and dyes can stack in piles of up to 250 each. Everything else takes up inventory spaces on a one space per item basis.

Will there be a house or depo or something of that nature, that you can attain/buy/start with, that you can put your items/equipment into so you dont have to carry it around and it wont take up your inventory space?
Loviatar
there has been mention of some sort of off character storage and character to character item transfer but no specifics yet
Blademaster
Thanks,

Aladdar
there will be some sort of storage either a personal acct storage, a guild storage, or both.

it has been noted officially that storage for characters above what you can carry would be addressed
to force someone into a guild to get storage would make many many people mad so i THINK the individual account will be allowed storage and i hope it is generous enough to save the knick knacs of years of play

Still, encouraging the creation of a million "junk guilds" is probably not the way to go...

Last game I played, you had a set amount of weight you could carry (Although that amount was HUGE- I could not only carry 99 units of components to make stuff, but also 99 units of that stuff at the same time, plus equiped armor, weapons, jewlery, etc.), which could be effectively doubled by buying a pack animal (which could follow you high and yon, even if you died it would walk all the way to the town you resurrect in). Gold may as well have been on a debit card, for all the encumberance it had.
I have a habit (carried over from the single player RPG games like Legend of Zelda) to hang on to every freakin' thing I pick up, whether it's of any use or not. A lower cap on my "bag" would make life a little more challenging for me, actually. (In a good way.)

I hope thre is a bank... but, will there be a wiat issue like in EverQuest?! I hate it... I mean, YAY YOU CAN HOLD 250 WOOD! But.... with what you have, you can only have 33 because it will be to heavy for you with any more... I hope there won't be.
Loviatar
you can have 250
planks
iron ingots
steel
granet
etc etc

actually the NDA isn't shutting me up on this one. You guys have heard as much as I have. Some type of account storage is planned, but the details are tight up at the vault of arena.net right now.
Zaklex
To answer Nova's question, weight is not a factor, you can carry as much as you can hold.

Ensign, any knowledge as to where I can get the 5 slot bag? I know many have said old Ascalon, but is there another mission or vendor in the lions arch / new ascalon area?
Loviatar
i have read the beltpouch is a old askalon item only
Ensign
As far as I know the only place that it's actually available is from the collector just outside the gate in Old Ascalon. So if you've created a new level 20, or left Old Ascalon early, you're just out of luck.
I'd assume this will get fixed in release.
Peace,

"Old Ascalon" in this thread = pre searing Ascalon, aka noob area
Not the area/zone/map "Old Ascalon" just south of Ascalon, in the post searing game.

Thanks for pointing that out! /sarcasm off
If the area changes the map changes, despite the fact you cant go back. My wording may be a little confusing, but saying pre-searing post-searing I may confuse more people. So the generalization in calling old ascalon, old ascalon and new ascalon, new ascalon has become pretty mainstream in many community forums.

Yea, your right, from now on im gonna call my house a car. Its alright, it may not really be a car but, who cares about accuracy and getting things right. *End smart-ellekness*

As of charachter storage I believe there was an interview in which ANet planned on making a personal storage system. Also you can acces this storage from any of your charachters, making mule chars a thing of the past. They said "We do not fight what we know pkayers will do, we do something to make it unessesary" (not exact quote) so you don't have to worry about no room for extra stuff or needing banks. I dont know if there will be a guild bank though, but if there isnt then the GM can just use his personal storage as one (provided the guild trusts him ).
nicosharp
well some people do live in a car, so that wouldnt be too far fetched, but them posting on this forum would.
