After you unidentify an item, an its highy salvagable or high salvageability what does that mean, do you get more common crafting materials out of the items you find or is that item convertable to common crafting materials?

You mostly get 10+ materials from that item, that is. If your lucky.

Most equippable things are salvageable, but you'll likely only get one piece of salvage from them (one wooden plank from a typical longbow, for example). Highly salvageable means that you'll get more of a salvage item from than you would typically (5 iron ingots from a highly salvageable short sword, for example). I admit that I don't know how that plays out when you're working with rare salvage items, but I think that answers your question.
