WARNING: These questions are going to seem basic. That is because I am a newbie. Get over it.
So I have been acruing tanned hides, cloth, bones, iron, granite, etc at a rate faster than I know what to do with it. What can a monk/ele 10 do with all this crap? Can I make or upgade monk weapons? If so, how?
How do I upgrade my holy staff? The damned thing dosen't seem to have any bonuses. Is there a way that I can attach my ankh of healing or other wierd stuff to my staff to make it more powerful?
What the heck do runes do? Are they one-time use? Can I use the runes for other classes? Do I even want to spend the money on them?
Does dye do you any good other than coloring your clothes? Why would I want to pay 750 gold for some black dye? There must be something it does other than stain my socks.
Does anyone know the difference between wanderer's gear and monk gear other than a few extra points?
Can I wear armor for another class? Can I use, for instance, warrior's outfits?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these.
What the heck do I do with all this stuff?

As monk, you want to look at the desert collector weapons. As such, you will need some items that you can collect in the desert. I typically send crafting material to the rare material trader/material trader. Others will recommend crafting high valuable crafting materials and sell them directly to the players.

You upgrade weapons by means of special upgrade items. In the case of a staff (2-handed), you can put on a staff head and a staff wrapping.
What the heck do runes do? Are they one-time use? Can I use the runes for other classes? Do I even want to spend the money on them?
Runes give you between 1 and 3 additional points in selected attributes. You can only use runes of your primary profession (i.e. if you are a Mo/R, you can only use monk runes). There are a couple unique runes, you may find vigor runes interesting.
Does dye do you any good other than coloring your clothes? Why would I want to pay 750 gold for some black dye? There must be something it does other than stain my socks.
Dye only makes you "pretty". Black sells for about 8,000-10,000 gold. There is a dye trader in big towns.
Does anyone know the difference between wanderer's gear and monk gear other than a few extra points?
Well, the different monk armors offer different levels of protection (in particular a couple extra points against melee or elemental damage). These result in different total base energy for your monk.
Can I wear armor for another class? Can I use, for instance, warrior's outfits?
No.
In underlined some search terms that you may find helpful.

keep what you need for your armor and sell the rest to players in town chat --- district 1 + 2 get the most traffic.
someone told me to keep webs, but I don't know what for.
there's also info about crafting materials on the linked site.
you can make some easy cash off the tanned hides, iron, dyes, and charr hides.
How do I upgrade my holy staff? The damned thing dosen't seem to have any bonuses. Is there a way that I can attach my ankh of healing or other wierd stuff to my staff to make it more powerful?
using expert salvage kit you can salvage mods off another staff, if you find cool ones.
or, you can buy them from players in town chat.
