Has something been changed regarding gold item drops? Used to be, so my guildies tell me, that when you salvaged a blue item, you got a minor rune, purple item a major rune, and a gold item a superior rune. Now all I seem to get when salvaging a gold item are major runes. I've been playing for about 2 months now and have salvaged 1 superior rune of water magic, with my W/R before the update of NOV 10/11. Since then every rune I've salvaged from a gold item has been a major rune, not superior.
Anyone else notice this, or is it just my bad luck?

It all depends on where you farm. If you farm in lower level places and find gold drops you will most likely only get a minor or major rune. If you farm in higher level places you have a good chance of getting superior runes from gold drops.

But yeah, back in the day, it was only minor/major/sup, but now with Purples/Golds, you have a chance to yield the same quality or one level below..most of the time one level below in my Experience.
I think think this was a good addition myself, as this way everytime a gold dropped, they though "oooh, sup rune!" just to get a major rune *smack!*
It made farming more interesting knowing you always don't get the same yield. Just like real life farming, some crops can fail or some can do just as well

Thanks folks. When I salvaged my Superior Rune of Water Magic, one of my guildies said, "hey, we're running to all the sothern Shiverpeaks settlements." Bagged this rune from a mursaat trying to get to Thunderhead, IIRC, before I figured out where I had to go to get infused.

I've gotten a few gold drops that got me all excited about a "superior" rune and have gotten major and minor from them. Most frequently a major secondly a superior and least common a minor...I FIRMLY beleive that there should be this absolute: color indicates rune rank (period)...if a gold doesn't give you a superior rune, there should be no rune at all (10 leather squares or something), but if it isn't a superior, the armor has no freakin' buisiness showing up gold.

The best place to find superior runes is outside of beetletun, from ettins. I have heard of lots of people finding superior vigor and superior absorp out there.

Low level areas mean nothing. Doing the Frost Gate mission (did I get that right? Northern Peaks mission...). The "runner" dies, so I fought my way through alone... got a sup vigor, and 2 major runes. Never gotten a sup Vigor past Riverside (COUGH tengus COUGH).
