Why use waste 2 slots for 2 monks on your Final Assault runs when 1 monk can do everything that's needed?! Granted this will put a lot of lazy monks out of their jobs, but for the more skilled monks who want to seek a higher profit, try running this build with 3 other skilled players:
(with the 3 other players being: 2x a glyph-of-renewal nukers, and a decent kegg'ing tank for fast-and-easy results)
PROT/HEAL MONK
14 prot, 12 heal, 11 divine favor
- life barrier {elite} : dmg reduction for keg tank (may also need to use for Grenth's Footprint)
- dwayna's kiss : to heal the keg tank
- heal other: for Grenth's Footprint, namely
- divine intervention: your panic button (cuz, hey, things happen)
- blessed signet: energy management
life attunement : stick on the keg tank
- mending OR watchful spirit: stick on yourself when ONLY when needed, and on the keg tank when in SF
- rebirth (meh, just in case.)
I've personally led several teams using this build and have had great results. Less members on the team means more greens per member. Plus, it's a hell of a lot funner than playing just prot or just heal --- seriously, you have to admit those Final Assault runs were stupidly boring as a monk. All you had to do before as a monk was use 1-2 skills and just sit around the whole time. Perhaps the hardest thing to do is finding competent teammates and convincing them that you're skilled enough.
Quick tips:
- Grenth's Footprint will be far harder than Sorrow's Furnace if you know what you're doing. Stay on your toes, and make sure the tank keeps as much aggro on him as possible.
- Sorrow's Furnace is a joke, but there are 2 big things to keep in mind:
1. Hexes will be cast on your eles even if the tank is holding the keg
2. The tank will have his enchantments stripped/shattered. Keep a close eye on the enchantment maintenance display and renew the enchantments as needed.
As for the nukers, they play an important role too, make sure both of them have these skills for best results:
Meteor Shower
Fireball
Fire Attunement
Glyph of Renewal {elite} -- can be capped in Perdition Rock
I personally prefer the Eles to be: E/Me's with Power Drain (which they will use on Well of Suffering/Deep Freeze/Animate Bone Fiend/Ressurect/Obsidian Flame to refill their energy stores with), and Incendiary Bonds (for a (Glyph of Renewal) --> Meteor Shower --> Fireball combo ---> Incenidary Bonds ---> Fireball killer combo) but it's not necessary.
---- Maelstrom, contrary to popular opinion, is not needed. With 2x Glyph of Renewal-Meteor Showers from the 2 eles every 15s, you'll be knocking those bosses (and everything else for that matter, if they wanted to) down non-stop. Have your Eles and Warrior surround those nasty monk bosses for easier killing.
As for the tank, I personally prefer W/E tanks with Obsidian Flesh {elite}, Grasping Earth, and Bonetti's Defense, but any tank that has some good self-survival skills, well-suited for Final Assault tanking will do. Try to pick up one that knows the ins-and-outs of aggro control. This will be crucial for surviving Grenth's Footprint.
Good luck, and happy farming!
Prot/Heal Monk for Final Assault Runs
Hiryu
Arya Nibelrund
I tried a similar thing too but a good team is a must so i do it only with my guildies...
I use some different skills, i max out protection and divine, the rest on healing.
I carry divine boon as main healing source and heal area to cure the minions of my MM (we don't carry 2 elem, i find it much faster with a good MM).
I still have to improve because i did it only a couple of times, but i'm confident in a couple of days i will have a better build. Btw we cleared FA without problems on the first run, only thing we will change is that the tank will have to carry SB to make sure he won't be stripped of 2-3 ench in one time (the only reason why he died twice on 1st run).
i'm curious to see what other monks use as i'm sure 4 men is pretty popular..i just didn't look on forums for a premade build..
