Hours upon Hours of guild wars down the tubes....

Everytime I log on it says Syntax error corrupt.

Good by my level 16 necro....

Anyways on a brighter note. I can start fresh with a new character. What should I be?

Uh.

Absolutely everything is stored server-side. Just because your copy of GW got corrupted somehow doesn't mean you lose everything.

Dude, just uninstall GW completely and reinstall it. Try DL'ing the client from Anet/NCSoft instead of from your discs.

A syntax error occurs when the PC tries to execute typo'd interpreted programmer's code. Given that GW uses .exe's instead of interpreted code, I think you have more than just corruption. Check for spyware if possible...

Yup, It's not the game thats the problem, it's your PC, as Lord Shar said, it could be spyware related. My thinking it's either hardware related, or your OS has gone a bit haywire..

Umm...ArenaNet is obligated to give you a working product. Since what you paid for is an account (your Guild Wars key) no matter what happens you won't ever have to buy the game again. Heck, you can buy a key on their web site and just download the client, so you don't even need the CD at all.

As others have said, just un-install and re-install the game. If that doesn't work open a problem ticket with ArenaNet support and they will help you get the issue resolved. No big deal, man!

"Syntax error corrupt" when you try to log in?
Haha, you've got a keylogger, and a buggy one at that. Whatever you've downloaded and installed ("skill calculator", hack, whatever) is trying to capture your password and username, and if it had succeeded it'd have sent it to whomever made it, so they could steal your account. Fortunately for you it is buggy.
You probably have no corruption of the game, but you need to get rid of that spyware - and it may not prove as easy to remove as it was to install.

Yeah, I had a trojan once that was a bitch to remove. I had to edit the registry myself. BOTH my virus programs recognized it as a trojan, but they couldn't get rid of it.
