Faction Conversion System for PvE Items
Hiryu
Why don't they implement a faction conversion system?
Where you can exchange your PvP Faction points for crafting materials, dyes, Ectoplasms and other such PvE niceties? Granted, they'll probably have to raise the faction cap for this.
Maybe something like:
15,000+ faction - 1 Glob of Ectoplasm
5,000 faction - 1 Obsidian Shard
10,000 faction - 1 Black Dye
250 faction - 10 Bolts of Cloth
(Conversion rate will be based on Trader rates)
(Maybe add in another condition where you can only do this conversion when you've unlocked everything else? Or not?)
And so on. It'll also help to connect PvE and PvP together and for those who have already hit the faction cap (10k) and have had everything else unlocked, it'll give them something to do.
Now before you guys go: "OMG! Then people will just Faction Farm!! WTF?!". Well, like I said, it'll help connect PvE and PvP together.
- PvE's already full of farmers. Now you can farm in either, in whatever style you prefer.
"OMG!! Then skilled PvP guilds will have a monopoly on Ectos and Shards!!"
- Meh, hardcore PvE (farming) guilds have more wealth than others too. But other PvE players can get gold as well. Same idea.

it has already been discussed to death.
no you will have to PVE for a PVE vanity item.
when you have unlocked everything gor PVP faction has done its job and is finished.
NOW YOU CAN HAPPILY USE YOUR UAS/X TO PVP YOUR BRAINS OUT

Look, the system works like this.
PVE --> PVP
Unlocking skills, items, whatever is done in PVE, but PVP can only help itself, you can't trade over.

Rather than trade faction let PvE trade skills points - not quite as easy to farm as the best XP rewards to get skill points are by doing high-level quests needing full balanced parties, plus they're essentially useless once you have all the skills you want/need/can use unlocked/captured so will give a point to actually carrying on playing and reward people for actually playing the game rather than the system.
Granted the greedy selfish farmers would probably be against it as it'd balls up their monopoly, but sod them as their antics have already screwed the drops for the rest of us.

Then besides the normal farming it would just add more for farmers.
Btw, if I solo farm griffons, i get 100XP per griffon, I only need to kill about 150 per skillpoint, so it earn a lot too.

Not agreeing with an idea doesn't mean you are the 'bad' guy.

Faction for gold and PVE items should definitely be an option.

Man if I could faction farm I'd never play the PVE game, so it's a bad idea, cause I can farm the heck out of faction have and got everything for every character I have. I'm at max 10k faction now and if I could spend that on PVE items? Woah no more boring solo farming PVE stuff. I'd just kill rangers and necros all day long for "easy" faction points in the 4x4 arenas.

Signed. For some reason, you can unlock things for PvP in PvE, but you cannot do the reverse.
There needs to be something to spend faction on, just to keep things interesting.
I don't frear the farmers, get beaten by teams that play to win,a nd not to farm faction.

the only purpose of faction is to unlock PVP stuff and the cap is to be sure you dont hoard it and are forced to use it or lose it.
when you have everything in the game unlocked it has served the intended purpose of giving you complete freedom to choose any skill/item/upgrade in any combo you want .
that means you get to play for the fun of it instead of having to earn more faction for that rune/item/etc you want.
you are free to play no more faction needed
if you want fow armor PVE for it

I hear nothing but PvEers whine about how easy PvPers have it and how they got lucky with faction.
BTW I unlocked 90% of the skills in this game with skill points/quests. I used faction to unlock the upgreades that 2 million exp worth of farming could not find me.
Faction is far slower than PvE for unlocks. It also cripples the player for not playing through with each class.
I think it is time to capp the skill points for PvEers, or make skill point aquisition account based, not character based. I am tired of deleting characters that have earned 50-100% of a skill point every night.
I forsee PvEers that did nothing but farm the UW buying all the skills for the new classes the day of release, so why prevent PvPers from doing the same?

Faction is to PvP as Gold is to PvE
If you say we can turn Faction into Gold, then you would have to turn gold into faction. (which is pretty stupid cause you can already buy skills and weapon upgrades n stuff)

Yeah my 50 skill points is going to go a lot futher when the expansion comes out than the mere 10k faction the PVPers are gonna be stuck with. hehe Long live the PVE gamer.

but the most important point is that this can potentially decrease the inflation rate in the economy by decreasing the money supply if a system of direct trade for items (not gold, and items cannot be converted into gold through merchants) is implemented.
as it is, skilled PvE players can afford to look cool and wear fancy armor, but skilled PvP players can't --- without resorting to a mindless grind of endless hours, or a somewhat lucky win streak in the Hall of Heroes (any good self-respecting PvP player will have to admit it's difficult to consistently hold Halls 5 times in a row...).

An alternate to using balthazar faction would be to gain something like grenth's faction for kills or wins in PvP. They you could go to a priest of grenth to get gold or items or whatever.
To balance things out, Anet could set the amount of faction you need to turn in as something high, so that you can get money quicker in PvE farming than you could in PVP, even if you have a good team and continue winning.

Only way I see it as being possible is if the only things you can buy with faction are custom weapons on the PVP screen for your PVE characters. Other than the purpose of custom made items for PVE or PVP characters, I do not believe we should buy ectos or shards just because you want them.
