1) While armor being bought from Merchants is an OK aspect, I think that you would get much more of a response from players if you were to make armor similar to weapons in that they can be dropped/found.For now, that is all that I can think of (or remember at least). I would appreciate additions to my list as well as comments/concerns.
2) Weapons need more Mods, such as +1 to a certain skill (also found in Diablo II).
3) This one's a huge stretch, but would be nice...a Teleport skill, used only in PvE.
4) Weapons that aren't so uniform (more Mods!!).
5) More items, each with its own strengths and weaknesses for different character builds (would require a tremendous effort from Anet as well as the afore mentioned in #2).
Suggestions To Anet

Ok Anet, here's the deal...WE NEED SOME MORE VARIETY! If you look back at games like Diablo II, which is still incredibly popular considering the age of the game, you will notice that the variety in the game is incredible! Therefore I will list some suggestions that I hope you will take into consideration if seen:

1) The logical problem with this is that armor needs to be customized for the person. Armor that drops from monsters wouldn't necessarily fit the character.
2) Already implemented (Bow grip of marksmanship, etc.)
3) Might work. Just make sure you don't give it to the AI, the Lich pissed me off enough with his teleport skill
4) Agreed
5) Agreed as well

1) Don't think possible. Think of the "fun" if mob start droping 75k armor pieces... That is why A.net just make them drop Runes and "monster armors". Might do something like droping Armor Parts, which is used much like a runes with its own property, but you can actually see it on your armor. (like an extra horn on your shoulder plate and such)
2) Yes.
3) Maybe for a new class. But would be fun to have enemy "teleported in" in some areas as ambush.
4) we all want more weapons and armor...
5) What kind of items? Suggest some.

by saying "ways to customize your character" are from the new armors that you will be able to BUY and of course the new set of LOOKS for both weapons and armors.
Also weapons have to remain uniformed for PVP purposes. The PVE game will always be one step behind the PVP game since this is about GUILD WARS not EVERQUEST. Doubtful you will see new mod drops, maybe 1 or 2 if that, but, pretty doubtful there as well because just 1pt of difference in a mod can change the whole balance of the PVP game. Doubtful you're going to see a tremendous effort out of Anet since this game is FREE to play online after the initial purchase. You're asking for a mmorpg and this isn't a mmorpg it's a PVP mmog with a PVE element.
What you will see is new "monsters". New colorful zones. New classes to play, maybe even an extra character slot or two. New armor LOOKS, new weapon types/looks. But, I wouldn't look for much if anything in the numbers to change so as not to upset the balance of the PVP game.

Guild Wars is indeed severely lacking in the loot deparment. Not enough variety, and worst of all most of the "best" items (ie: gold items) that drop in Guild Wars are sheer garbage whereas at least in Diablo II you could get good item drops at a reasonable rate.
/signed for fixing the loot

"...Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). Guild Wars was designed from the ground up to create the best possible competitive role-playing experience."
That being said, I also don't see how more mods will unbalance PvP. They could easily do it just like they have it set up now, more mods to find in PvE, more mods to unlock for PvP using faction or simple identification. There's not a problem there, and I do think we'll see more in the future.
