I know it gives reduce damage from attacks, but iwht protection(port spirit/bond) and bond (life bond-barrier) monks, is it still worth getting superior absorption?

Sup. Absorbtion is a warrior rune only, if you are a warrior monk and have the 100k, go for it. I have seen my brother's warrior be pounded and take no damage.

The difference is -2 (major) and -3 (superior). It's not something that is necessary, but it's a good thing to have.

I guess that depends on the queue of events and if the rune is applied before or after the whole Bond/Barrier/Spirit Circle. However in my opinion, a Major Absorption Rune + a godly shield (Collectors for the win) + one piece of Knights Armor and you've all the absorption you will ever need.
That one single damagepoint will only turn the tides when you're taking a huge storm of smaller attacks. Unless you're farming or running thats just not usually going to happen. Well... if you happen to get one of those runes for free (i.e. find it) then by all means.. apply it. But in the whole PVE Environment, you'll never really NEED more than a major absorption. And if you have a look at the difference in prices - Major has won the match.

PVP-Wise... well just unlock the Rune with Faction and use your PVP Slot. Apply it. It probably won't make a difference, but it won't hurt you either. So basically that is a win situation.

Another q along these lines, does ascalon armor stack with knights?

No, it's won't bypass the prot spirit. dmg reduction first, then spirit...

Shield with something like -2 while enchanted, -2 while in stance (both of those mods on 1 shield), Superior Absorption + Knights Boots or something, and it's max absorption for a Warrior I think.

No, absorption from armor doesn't stack with each other. Essentially Knight's and Ascalon are the same, just different looks.

It's worth it for PvP.

In PvE, you can get by with no runes at all.

Superior Absorbtion + Major Vigor > Major Absorbtion + Superior Vigor.

Just go for it if you have the money, take Major when you don't.

Well.. it is nice to take hardly any damage and know you're not making the monk's job hard (this is pve). So if you have the money or find the rune, use it. I found mine and it's the only reason my warrior still exists. I just don't like playing warrior much.

It makes little to no difference in pvp either. The skill of the player is a much larger determining factor.

I doubt there would ever be a case where you lose due to lack of sup absorb.

i get along fine w/ a major absorbtion so i dont think spending a 100k on a pve rune is worth it
