The way I see it:
Well as it was mentioned earlier things cost so much (15k armor and better weapons) and if you did work as a "team" you wouldn't be making any money at all. The ecto drops so little times now its not even funny, so people are forced to farm solo. I'm not saying they should make more drops available for everyone. I also think a-neet taking AoE was totally unecisary because now those skills are TOTALLY useless because people in PvP respond to those.
Why is farming wrong?

I'm not bad because I farm.

In essence when ANET nerfed the drop rates, they actually forced MORE farming. People got to have money to buy things and if there are no drops or pitiful drops like there are now it will take a long long long time to get any money just playing in groups.
Gailes comment is kind of funny in a way. Saying no one should be able to solo farm some higher level zones. Well Gaile if they aren't farming them, then they will be farming the lower level ones, do you want to stop that also? It's sort of a rediculous opinion of her when she knows full well people need and have to have money to buy some of these items, especially resouces. Do you want "everyone" to have to get everything on their own Gaile or have a robust trading system between players? Because if there's no higher zone solo farming allowed, there's not going to be much there to buy in the first place and 2nd no one is going to have the money to buy them anyway, there would be a boring factor one way or the other. Boring to farm or boring because there is nothing to buy or items so rare because of less solo farmers that prices would be sky high and once again, because GAILE doesn't think anyone should make any reasonable money solo, it would take forever to have the plat to buy them. That's pretty rediculous Gaile you should rethink your thinking as far as "economics" goes. The more supply the more reasonable the price, the more reasonable the price the LESS farming that would be necessary by all players. Solo farmers actually do cheapin items, not increase them, because as more and more items move into the game, they start lowering the prices to be able to sell them quickly. Cutting out solo farming would just increase prices beyond belief.
Reducing the cost of ectos from the vendors would be an excellent way to bring the economy back into a more reasonable value for "everyone". People want that fissure armor but to make it cost 2 million plat cmon that's a bit silly. 200k max for anything in the game is plenty and it would stifle your ebay sellers almost completely since 200k doesn't take squat to get. Drop those ecto and shard prices and watch the traders start dumping their gear for practically anything. You allowed a resource to become another form of coin in the game, so, that needs to be nerfed. I don't think many people would want 10000 ecto taking up slots in their inventory.

Just tell me, besides farming what else is there to do in this content poor game?
Quests? What for? One more worthless skill point.
Farming everyday for me, at least it feels like a box of chocolates.

The way I see things is if you want to farm...go farm. If you want to seel an uber item for gold...do so. People have different ways to get thier gold and I am fine by that.

Wtf, that is really stupid. Farming is part of the game, guild wars expects you to farm and make money. It doesnt expect you to share 30 gold and crappy weapon with 8 people every mission to get money.

The problem with this is, people don't want to spend all this time getting all this gear and things together that are here for the PVP game and people that are mainly PVE want more challenge and longevity out of the PVE game, which counteracts against one another. You can't apease both because both have different ideals about how the game should work and entertain them.
ANET's philosophy is to push players from the PVE game into the PVP game, thus, lack of content, boring content and repeated content. EQ's first game was bigger than this world and took ages to get to level 50. Thus the content and the amount of time required to get to max level and see all the content was pretty balanced. ANET allows running through this content that's a big no no in most mmorpgs. Yeah this isn't a mmorpg, but, many people come here playing it like it is. I would say a large portion does. You can see it in the posts and gripes and complaints.
This game was almost perfect, but, they combined the two games into one and that's still the problem and the issues. They should give the PVP players everything they need and let skill and intelligence run that part of the game instead of forcing them to play the PVE game. Then they should give the PVE players higher levels, more and various types of gear and stats and armor and let it become a mmorpg with unlimited goals. Loot is most always important in mmorpgs and having thousands of different types and looking pieces with various different and NEW stats is always looked upon as a plus to them. How boring is +15% enchanted >< 50 health or Hexed or while in stance or +15% always? Thas it! That's as boring as any I've ever seen. Talk about needing a facelift on stats.
I would have made it if you want to pvp then start pvping the first day, build a character pick any skills you want, any armor you want and any weapons/gear you want everytime you log in. When you look at a lot of the top guilds anyways they have the best of everything, use the same skill bars and it mostly all comes down to intelligence and usage.
There are many PVE players that might like to PVP that will never see the best gear, though they can get all the skills and elites. These people are frustrated over the prices of things in the PVE game, they can't advance fast enough to get to where they want to be in the PVP game.
Break the two games up, give the PVP players all that they need and want and separate the PVE game completely from the PVP game. Then people can enjoy what they like best about the game without all this bickering over prices and grinds.
Of course it's not my game or design idea. But, one can see clearly this one has issues and problems with people not being satisfied with the way they have to do things to get to the type of game they enjoy. PVE is stagnated and PVP is great if you have the best gear and skills, but, you gotta play the PVE game to get the gear, at least the pvp faction was a nice implementation, now open up having more weapons of various types to that faction purchasing feature and don't force players to use "prebuilds" let them make their own prebuilds from their own minds and don't make them play the PVE game at all if they don't want to.

I think the nerfing is a bit harsh imo. The way i see it is if people want to farm let them. Alot of the fun in this game for me is farming so i can find rare items or sell those items to buy rare items.

Yeap, but at the end of the day Anet does not exist to spread their philosophy on MMOs and gaming, they exist to make money.
The market has spoken, I hope the PVE experience will be better in chapter 2.

How many times do you people have to be told that GW is not item based, you don't NEED FoW armor, a lot of people may WANT FoW armor, but there's a huge difference in NEEDING something and WANTING something, learn it, live with it. deal with it. Personally I wouldn't allow anything less than the required team size to enter any zone/mission, as for scaling drops based on group size, it already is.
