I'm not entirely sure if this has been sugested but i looked around and saw nothing that's similar.
This would only happen if a guild has a guild hall. There would be a NPC at the hall which would give guests (or even possibly ordinary members) a quest to acomplish. For example to retrieve a dragon claw. The monster that has to be killed for the quest item would be in a cave on the island(?) and would be a level set by the leader depending. Once the quest is complete the guest automatically gets an invitiation to the guild.
There could also be a different quest which a member could take and try to accomplish in order to become an officer. The guest (or member) should not be able to team up with another person in order to do.
This could show that the potential guild member has a set level of skill.
There should be a form of initiation but the difficulty is finding what would work and prove ability. The whole reasoning behind not allowing others to take part is so that its not too easy but I suppose that could be remedied with a boss similar to but slightly easier than Glint.

What do you think? Any suggestions are more than welcome.

I'm all for Guild Only quests, but I think this one stinks.

Esp. since other guildies couldn't help... totally negates the point of the guild, and loses an important opportunity to play with the player before he becomes a Guildy.

The Leader of the Guild needs to keep authority of who is promoted or not, an "Officer Quest" would not work at all...

But keep thinking of ideas for Guild Quests. I think more needs to be done for Guilds in PvE.

I see where you're coming from.. maybe if in order to become a member you'd have to show being able to cooperate with others efficiently but also an ability to adapt... (Edit above)

Er, if their abilities is of question how about you just team up with them on a mission before inviting them to the guild?

you want a good guild initiation....

for those trying to be an officer: make the new recruit complete thirsty river with only henchies and 1 current officer observing

for lower levels you can be creative as well, it won't take that much but going out on a mission with potential guild members and seeing how they react, if they call targets, or follow called targets for that matter will go a long way to filter the quality of people that want to join your guild.
