Question, I am a W/MO and cast retribution which says, while you maintain this "Enchantment", whenever target ally takes attack damage, this spell deals 33% of the damage back to the source. My party member is a minion master so does his minions get the effect of retribution?

Better question do allies only apply if they are added to the ally section in the party list box?

Thanks.....

No, they don't. Your ally's minions are not your allies.

Second question: Yes. I think.

Correction, yes your enchantments are castable on minions. For instance a good build for Minion Master (MM) is to equip Death Nova on a minion just about to die, but I don't do that because too much micro-management.

can't speak on this particular spell, but minions are allies.
I have heard that your own character is also considered an 'ally', for spell purposes, as long as it doesn't specifically prohibit using it on the caster.

sounds to me like you could use this spell on minions, but you'd have to pick a particular one --- you can't cast it on the mm hoping all his minions will benefit.

just my guess.

Hell no. You want some allied minions to deal 33% damage back to their attacker? You cast retribution on them, not on their owner.

Your allies minions are your allies too.

Ok I thought I had it but now I am confused....

AS A WARRIOR / MONK
I cast retribution on myself, would it effect the minions of a MM necro in my group?
Does any enchantment I cast effect the minions of a MM necro in my group?

AS A NECRO / MONK
I cast retribution on myself, would it effect the minions I control?

I guess I was always under the impression that unless the NPC/Monster showed up on my allies list in the party information dialog they are not catorized as allies.....

Target Ally = The Ally you are targeting. Only. The Ally. You are targeting.

If you cast Retribution of yourself, only YOU will be affected by it.
If you cast Retribution on a MM, only the MM will be affected by it.
If you cast Retribution of a minion, only the minion will be affected by it.

As with ALL maintained enchantments.

Ok, I misunderstood the retribution skill, yes I see how it works, target ally not allies.....ok then 1 last question, if as a W/MO I cast charge or shields up or anything else which effects all allies are minions from a MM affected by this as well?

Thanks!

Right, that is a harder question to answer. Easiest way is make one minion and use "Charge!" next to him; see if he keeps up as you run away. Pets are apparently affected by Warrior shouts, but though minions are considered allies, they may well not benefit.

I'll test it for you when I get home, or maybe some great great person could clear this up right now...

I never said as a W/MO are MY minions affected, I asked if minions of a MM be affected from my shields up or charge skills.....

Just in case the line of questions leads here...

Minions are not healed with Heal Party, but would be if close enough for a Heal Area. Only party members, not allies and pets, are healed by Heal Party. You can also cast direct heals on them, such as Orisons, by targeting them first.
