Dont wanna ruin your nice 15k armour?
heres how you can save it from the nasty -hp degrades

for example.
wearing full set of 15k armour (eg: +1 str )
buy up to 3 more pieces of 1.5k armour
Helmet, Glove, Boot
(most people dont need more than 3 anyways)

Helmet:
If your 15k helmet is strength, do not put a superior strength on your new 1.5k helmet.
instead put a superior tactics or something else on it.

Gloves and Boots: put any runes on these which you may/may not need at all times


This way, you have your untouched 15k armour (+1 str)
if you only want a superior str with it, you can switch gloves
if you want superior swords, put it on a +1 swords helmet
(if you only want a +3, and not +3+1, put it on something else)
if you want a superior tactics, switch boots


these are written to my specifications, but if you think about it, you can do something similar

All well and good if you only want 1 specific set of armour. What about those that like to have each of the sets of armour?

My mesmer, elementalist, and SS necro have two headpieces each- one for each of the two kinds of skills I might use with each. Not only that, but on my feet and legs I put minor runes of each of those kinds so that if I'm using one headpiece I only get -3 to the other attribute point level.

Yep, I've been doing that for a while. Get some funny comments sometimes when I have a mishmash of different armors on, but it does the job and I don't need to have full multiple sets taking up storage.

my monk uses the following:

+1 prot headpiece w/ +1 heal rune
+1 heal headpiece w/ +1 heal rune
+1 prot rune on chest
+3 df on hands
+1 df on hands
+3 prot on legs
+3 heal on legs

I always have both minor runes, whichever superior (heal/prot) i want, and whichever headpiece i want. this lets me mix heal/prot at +4/+1, +3/+2, +2/+3, or +1/+4. I can switch out the DF minor/superior if I need the health back. totally painless to rearrange my build.

Or just go buy another rune. Most of the superiors are dirt cheap anyway. You spend 20-25K on one piece of armor just to exchange runes?

I have for my ranger two extra piece of armor (druids) for when I go trapping - not because of runes, but because of the difference in attributes (energy versus added armor). When I'm trapping I'm not on a fashion show. I'm sure the smites could care less what armor I was wearing when they blow up.

If you want to be able to switch back and forth at will, you need another piece of armor. Unless you want to buy a new rune everytime you want to switch!

i do this with my scar patterns/armour. sup soul reaping on hands, then when i get too much dp i switch it for my normal armour with +1 soul reaping. bloodstained boots +1 blood, since i figured ill be using corpses, but if im using corpses for minions then ill already have a +4 facial scar on for death. simple tricks like this r helpful.

are you saying its possible for me to make all my scars +4 [sup rune of what scar is and then +1 from scar]???? cos then i could save tonnes

i've started doign this with my necro because i use him for blood, death and curses and i wanna save as much as pos on space. Sup blood and curses are both on gloves yet my death is on tunic.... i have 3 scar patterns tho. I need minor blood for Sup death, and minor death for Sup blood---will have to sort that out..............................

my new warrior (atm lvl 10 but 15k glad armour with knights boots and platmale helm[+1 str] all dyed silver) will need sup runes........looks like im buying another few pieces (i know i could get cheaper armour..but this way it will match...im shallow)

Yep, my ele has each of the elemental headpieces with the matching superior rune in them. I'll just swap in the appropriate headpiece if I want to get 16 in the attribute or the minor energy storage headpiece if I want to avoid the -75 hp penalty.

I have a set of gloves for each sup warrior rune - strength, tactics, swordsmanship and axe. I also color code them to make choosing the correct one easier.

For my necro I just have a Sup ruin with each scar pattern. So if I need to switch builds just switch scar patterns and have +4 in that. Then again scar patterns aren't 15k so it doesn't really go with this thread but thats alright lol.
