Sore Losers (PvP Arena)

I'am just curious on how many of you guys who fight in random arena's get a bunch of groups with sore losers. I just say this because I was recently in a few arena matches, we were doing well. Won quite a few matches with two monks in a four player team (I know people say we stacked monks even though it was random in selection). So we killed a good deal of parties and all of them had something negative to say. "You suck. Stinkin cheaters!" .... "You guys are noobs!" ..... and other various, well dumb comments. The only group that I found didn't give a rude comment was the last group I faced and lost to. I told them good game and was on my way.

Just baffles me why people are just rude when they lose. I can understand being highly competitive but why rude? Just be on your way and try again with another group. Didn't find this nearly as much in the Tombs but Arena it was just about every match.

Curious if anyone else has been getting this behavior from people. Might just be me.

Such is life. Either their yelling at their team mates for sucking or yelling at their challenger for not. Same goes for any online game where you play other people. Be it RTS, FPS, or RPG. Ignorance is bliss after all.

My personal favorite is being called names by a warrior from the opposing team after I hitting him with Pin Down and using Dodge to get away from him, and then turned back and killed him.

Ever since he told me only noobs run I started using my bow as a deadly melee weapon, honestly.

Actually, I found that a surprising number of losers on Ascalon Arena congratulated the winning team for playing a good fight.

Often times a few quiet gg's will go unnoticed, whereas a sharply worded comment will linger in the memory...

Agreed Deagol: from what I've seen, %'s lean heavier toward respect and appreciation than taunts and rudeness. But then again, I try to keep my 'idiot' filter in my head active as often as possible.

Carebear much? I enjoy a good insult in a match, helps me get more focused and makes the match more personal. Whats the point of competition if its all for fun, there needs to be something at stake. I really don't see much in the way of rudeness in the 4v4 matches, but you see some serious American vs Korean hate in the Halls of Heroes. I was laughing so hard when this one Korean team wrote, "You American Mother Dog Pussy." Good Stuff

What's with all this 'carebear' and 'fanboi' and other stereotyping foolishness. Carebear seems to be applied with anyone who's looking for a less caustic environment or seeking balance where it is deemed necessary. Fanboi is arbitrarily tagged on people who say positive things about a given developer, company and or team behind a game. These are nice, wide brushes people use to paint others with, but really serves no purpose other than as an attempt to completely dismiss someone elses opinion?

How about this? You try your 'smart-mouth, rude, trashy talk' out in public, on the street and in a pub somewhere and you'll probably very quickly find yourself on the ground and in pain. Oh, what a surprise. But in the safety of an online world, people get as nasty and foul-mouthed as they like?

Taunting someone during a fight is one thing (stirrig emotions for tactical advantage), but doing it afterwards (regardless of winning or losing) is just bad sportsmanship...and rather childish. No?

Oh god, my 37 win streak in the arena.

These two warriors would keep coming at us, I swear to god, every other match had them in it. And everytime we beat them, it was "You guys suck!" "Your ****in n00bs", "If I didn't get a team of retards I'd own you." or "Good game on my part, stfu guys."

It was sad. I really think that people take it so seriously, that when they loose, they loose a little bit of their self-confidence, and NEED to talk shit to make it up back up.

Warmos, eh, Jackell? Well that explains everything, now dosent it?

Seriously. Most [NOT ALL FFS] Warmos get shown that their build isnt almighty and they either start shouting HAX HAX, etc. Or blame it on their team. Now that'ss the great part. Blame something on your team when you have THE single most self sufficient build in the game. ;P

Repeat after me:
"Stupidity for teh win!"

lol no Kebren I'am not a "Carebear" but what I was tring to point out is exactly what Nefser did. I don't mind the rude comments, usually just shrug them off. I just find it more amusing that they can't win the fight but can talk so much trash after words. Then it goes from amusment to annoyance. Perhaps you like the insults (whatever suits ya bro) but I rather have a nice challenging match with my competitors ending with a good game rather then some butthead comment. . Then again this isn't a perfect world, there's going to be buttheads just like anywhere else.

Haven't noticed many of such sore losers....most likely "sore winners", been doing PvP-Random in Ascalon with my new character and we won like 15 times in a row....then the first team we lost against was like:
"HAHA NOOBS"
"FUKIN EASY LOL"
"YUO SUCK! LOLOL!!11"
Most of the time we won those who lost were actually nice to us giving comments like "Woah you guys are beasts hehe" or a simple "Good game "....sounds weird but most people I lost against were worst than any "loser" could be....

LOL, your my new hero.

I remember, Yaks bend arena. a team of 3 wa/mos.

I get a mesmer who gives them, I think Mind wrack. Never played a mesmer so I don't know for sure. When you attack you loose 5 energy.

The mesmer stays behind, and keeps doing that, and the Wa/Mo's die. Pretty quickly, as well.

They started crying about how we had either hacked or there was a glitch. I quote:

Proberly not so much a good thing to do but provoke the angry people and watch there game play deteriate. Otherwise just ignore them.

Yeah just ignore the childish .. worse i think is the way some people are offensive towards korean teams...its just not on ! you have to give respect to all PvP players and situations. still there's not much we can do about it.. i just note their names a choose not to group with them, I will even leave teams in tombs just for this reason.. nothing wrong with bantor such as "prepare for your death" etc.. but things like "you ****ing koreans suck", is totally uncalled for..

Why exactly? Korean is an adjective. NOW if they say for Fing gooks suck, a known racial slurr. Then maybe I might be a little irked. But saying Koreans suck(when they are koreans and just beat your ass) I really don't have a problem with.

Some people just have a anger management problem(and the mask of the internet generally doesn't mediate this). Hell we all lose it once in a while.

I agree, some good roleplaying-style taunting would be fun, but that kind of lame "You suxxors we roxxors" stuff is just annoying and boring. Sheez, if I want to get called a &%'$# bitch or some such nonsense I can probably do it in real life.

But the War/Mo is still highly usable in PvP, just not how morons play. For instance, dropping healing prayers and picking up smiting makes a HUGE difference... that and hammer skills But anyways back on topic, people who aren't as skilled as others try to make themselves bigger or others smaller by tossing out insults, where as the more intelligent amonst us prefer to just say "GG" and be on our merry way to the next match.

I'd love if Guild Wars would remember 1) the current winning streak, and 2) your longest winning streak. I know the Arena is just fun and randomness, but it would put an extra edge to it if you had something more to strive for (breaking your own winning streak).

I was playing my E/Me and a big warrior tried to hack me down so I ran.
and ran
and ran
and ran
and ran
And the dumbass warrior kept following after the whole time calling me a n00b. I guess because I ran? Well while he was chasing this n00b my party was whacking the rest of his party and then I ran by the rest of my team and they hacked him down while he chased me.

So the n00b was able to slap some denial on the enemy monk at the start of the fight and then remove the enemy tank completely out of the fight. I'd say it was a job well done.

Seriously though most of the opponents either say nothing or say gg. Sometimes they say "wow" or if they win they taunt our dead bodies which is ok as I do that too

The label is apt, and accurate. PvP is competition, and wishing for the world to hold hands, sing "Shining Happy People," and say gg after every match just isn't going to happen. Thats the reality. You can ignore it, or join in the fun. There is a certain irony to declaring how aloof and mature you are from PvP smacktalk, and yet take time to grumble about it on a message board, no?

Personally, I just like /sitting on a defeated opponents corpse after the match these days. That usually gets the point across. I also find myself laughing at some of the smacktalk, especially when a W/Mo does some John Travolta moves on my face-down body. Ah, its a bitter-sweet moment.

I haven't encountered too much hostility/bad manners from losing parties in the Arena. Over the weekend I had some good winning streaks (in fact, one of the groups I was in I gained 1/2 of 10 and 40% of 11 before I had to leave for church [by that time, 3 of our members were 11]), and I can only remember 1 or 2 whines, and no hostile remarks. On good matches I'd give out a GG and when I saw people again I'd greet them (I always call target on monks prior to the gates opening) by name.

For me, it's been a rarity to find poor sports amongst my opponents (though immature gloating is more common, in my experience).

Haha... hello fellow guild member. I also get quite angry and competitive in pvp, it's player vs player. I hate getting on a pick-up team and they don't press t after I tell them to and then call the target. There's a reason why that w/mo and e/n is not dieing... perhaps it's the monk!

I got called a snob . That's alright by me, better to be good and be a snob then be shitty and a loser.

You know... it really is okay.

I don't mind if they talk like that. I mean, I understand some people find the language offensive or something, but it's an online game so that's normal. But really how much do I care what a person says about me when I'm online?

Like playing CounterStrike:

1337player - "OMFG! u n00b. i pwn u"
Me - *BAM* Shotgun to the face.
1337player - "fuggin hax! u cheater!"

Same thing in GuildWars. And it will always be like that. So let them talk... because I'm guy with the shotgun.

And you know what? Sometimes people don't care that much about winning either. I'm actually not much good at all at CounterStike but I love playing, even if my kill/death ratio only works out to 1:4 sometimes.

Online insults are popular because people know that, unlike when you were in high school, you can talk shit online and no one can chase you down and beat to snot out of you. In real life if someone talks like that, they'll get a nice ruining by someone who can actually back it up. The bottom line is that everyone ought to learn to ignore it. They get their jollies by making you mad. If they aren't killing you and bragging about it, they'll be dying and saying that you cheated. They will always be best in their own mind.

Just make sure you're satisfied. If you don't mind losing as long as you get to play, then cool. If you are only happy when you win, then make damn sure that you're the guy with the shotgun.

The one thing I find more annoying by far than any taunting or "u haxs" talk is fools whining in all caps about how overpowered a healing W/Mo is in every dang district of the various random arenas. At first, I just laughed, but now it's getting really annoying. There should be an NPC added to explain to noobs that healing W/Mos are very easy to counter and should maybe even explain a bit of profession-countering advice since they don't want to learn in RP. I also dislike some of the racist talk in the tombs, but simple taunting is fine.

It's fun facing a whole team of W/Mo's because people think they're overpowered and try to win with just the build. You get your Ele's on the team to just blast away at them while your monks are healing and your Warriors are keeping them still.

I went through a tomb run at breakfast yesterday and was with a damn good team, we slaughtered everyone in our way. The only thing that got to me is that the leader was a sore winner. Made snide remarks to the loosers and all until I told them to settle down, it's already obvious we're the better team, you don't need to rub it in.

Yeah, I agree about the sore loser thing. I guess it's not too bad though, since those simple-minded people usually forget who you are, so as long as you ignore them, you're fine. At least GW is better than some other MMOGs were the winners say things like "pwnt ez!!!11!1one!!1". I've been PvPing for a while, and I've only met 2 groups of winners who were like that, whereas I've met like 30+ sore losers.
