Pets in towns.
slimdim
I think it would be quite cool to be able to take your pets into towns. Possibly have the option to toggle them on and off like you can with capes and helmits.
What dose everyone els think of this?

Its not a bad idea, but imagine if everyone in lions arch had their pet equiped.

I Think this would be a good idea.... but what would happen if you were in LA D1 and there was only rangers with pets on.....would the server overload......i dunno as i'm a gamer...not a tech

It is something people work on - raising a pet. Similar to getting fancy armour to show off, people find an animal they want and go to the trouble of raising it, I can see how it'd be nice to have them show. Heck, I imagine people would love to see weapons in town too. Of course, with the detailed animations on some weapons it would get laggy, but a pet is pretty basic skins, and really angular - they're low-poly anyway, so they shouldn't matter too much.

i wouldnt mind showing off my bunny from preseering.. or my bull from mesmer path
Elena
well you can do what you can do with other people in towns make em low res this should kill a lot of the lag and would be yust funny to see a huge moa bird parading through town
Symeon
1. This would cause too much lag.
2. This is yet another request for 'show x in town', along with weapons and previously of course, helmets. If these happen we'll just all be running around with our helmets and weapons and pets exactly like outside town. No.
3. Think of all the bears, dune lizards, ostriches, spiders running around Lions Arch...

I admit I'm tempted to show off my pet, but I have to vote no. I've been in other games that allowed you to take your pet with you everywhere. Too much lag... I mean really bad lag. It was frickin' annoying to walk around town and not be able to see anything with all the pets running around. In towns, they do nothing but take up bandwidth.
Pyrrhus
While i admit allowing pets into towns and outposts would increase pride in one's self and it wouldn't cause too much lag the problem is, a Swampgirl Inez said, that the place would be filled with with pets everywhere. If you ruled a city would you let huge spiders, big cats and wolves in?

back about a year ago i played star wars galaxies. my main proff was a creature handler, so naturally it prided me to have the largest pets. problem was, as soon as i popped out my awsome bol named clyde, everyone else would too. laagg central. and then there was the time i almost got banned for having my giant dino thingy ( dont even remember what it was called, but man was it huge. ) jump inside of the mos eisly cantina.
overall, pets cause problems in large groups of people. long way of saying it, but i said it.

i agree it would cause alot of lag. but atleast (anet if you are listening) make it to where we could customize our pets not just their name. i mean like elder scrolls 4: oblivion. you will be able to customize your horse with armor and everything. so i mean they could make some cool looking armor. i have seen screen shots and this looks really cool. and i mean again (anet if you are listening) this would encourage people to actually play pve with other chars instead of using henchmen. because they would want to show their cool looking pets off to other human players. and if you cant take pets into a town the only other place to show them off is outside of a town. so no do not let people take their pets into towns just simply give people a way to customize their pets.

It's simple. They don't go into towns because they have to wait outside, with the van. If they didn't watch the van, who's to keep some asshole from stealing it? You see? it makes perfect sense.

Laggy and hectic. Not signed.

they would just get stuck everywhere

Plus, when a person isn't walking around, the pets have a script that moves them around at timed intervals.
Once my pet and another guy's pet were on the same timed intervals, moving back and forth at the exact same time, it was just weird.
Now imagine that, on a much larger scale.

well what about the idea of customizing pets. i.e. armor and the ability to dye the armor and what not. still make it to where you can not bring them into town it would just make people want to show their pets off by grouping with real people instead of using henchies. which is what anet wants right??

And think of the lag this would create.

Unless you're having the pet carry around the stuff you buy in town, theres no point to having it there...just a lag machine.

Lag lag lag lag lag lag lag lagalogalin.
It would be pretty sweet to have pets in...anywhere but seriously if you put like 100 rangers +100pets in one area...you would move like 2 steps every 10 minutes it would be like time slowing down and only letting certain things move per minute...GENIOUS I SAY!!!!!

i also like the idea of toggling pets and weapons on and off in towns, but it would probubly get laggy

To those who argue lag: Only a fraction of folks in any given town have ranger subclass, and of those only some would have entered the district with their pet on skillbar. If it included an "I don't want to see pets" option for those afraid of lag it would be fine - I figure I sometimes want to find other pet rangers for a fun ranger run, this will help - people who arrive in town with a pet on skillbar are likely going to want to use one.
Could it lead to lag? Maybe, sometimes, but if you need to enter the district with Charm Animal on your skillbar it really isn't that common.
