necro/monk advice

i made a necro/monk.
i know i want smiting prayers for sure but beyond there i have no idea what i want to do.
the reason i chose necro as my primary is becuase i like the idea of gaining energy from killing and of course they look so cool
if i go blood magic/smiting prayers/healing prayers then i would be able to contantly be draining life from monsters to keep my health up while healing other party members plus the occasional smite while partying and while soloing i could drain monsters life to keep me alive while using smiting prayers then if need be i could always use a healing prayer on myself.

or i could go with death magic/smiting prayers/healing prayers which would allow me to deal more damage and have the ability to heal but i dont know how well that would work in a party if i want to focus on mainly healing.

Hey i like your ideas. To be honest, yesterday i posted a thread that i wanted ppl to answer if a Nec/Mo with blood magic/smiting and a tiny bit of healign would be good. I assume it would, because you could sacrifice health for damage, heal yourself (not party members, unless you wanted to) and then deal damage by smiting your foes. Sounds cool eh?

But your idea of a death magic/smiting/healer would also be kick ass. This could be weird. Only because you deal damage with death magic AND smiting. So there isnt a point to do this one. Although it does sound decent, but the only downside is wasting points into two attributes that may be pretty equal when you could pump points into just one to make it elite.

As I only have experience with the monk mainly (still growing my necro), here's what I can offer you.

One thing you can do is the standard solo monk skill set along with necro skills to augment yourself.

Balt's spirit, cheap heals/protection (like guardian/reversal of fortune/healing touch for yourself), zealot's fire, and most likely symbol of wrath/balt's aura, or maybe go down for a single target nuke line. Then use the fact once you kill a mob, you regain energy fairly quickly. In fact, for a necro primary, I would probably take out balt's spirit, and use whatever skill.

Basically, you nuke one down, but use your heals to activate zealot's fire for yourself and thus cause an area of effect damage. I could see the smite or a necro single target chain with death nova on them to finish them quickly, and cause a massive amount of area damage + zealot's, etc.
