Getting monsters to hate me
Shwitz
I'm a newbie warrior, and I'm having a very big problem. Unless my group goes very very slowly and allows me to run ahead and get all of the monsters' attention before charging in to aid me, and without holding a gear/keg/etc, I'm having a lot of trouble getting monsters to attack *me* and not the rest of my party. I'd very much like to use some of the defensive skills that a warrior has, like Dolyak Signet, Riposte, and others, in a PvE party format, but they do absolutely no good if I'm not the one getting hit. Do any of the veteran warriors out there have tricks for maintaining aggro on themselves without the use of kegs, gears, or other hold-able items?

It's easy to gain monster agro so long as you charge ahead with no other party members inside your agro bubble/radius when you engage. If you charge in with your party members following too closely on your heels, and they attract monster agro, it is squarely their fault.
Bottom line: party members who don't know how to manage agro are always a liability.

So there's no way to get a monster to consistently attack me without getting my party to stay the heck back at the onset of hostilities? Well, there goes any hopes of using Riposte or Dolyak Signet with most pick-up groups...

Not true. Once you've established monster agro and hold your position, then the party can come in without getting attacked. If you move the monsters start attacking you, or if any party members cast any AE-damage spells that cause monster scatter, then it's back to square-1.
