Warrior/Mesmer Help

Hello!

I started GW a few days ago and am now proud owner of a lvl 14 Warrior/Mesmer. I picked Mesmer because of two reason. First of all because everyone has a monk and secondly because i though that a Warrior with the ability to shut down spellcasters (his worst enemies) is a neat idea.

Im doing quite alright in PvP and PvE but Im uncertain on a few things. I was planning to take Swordsmanship 12, Strength 10 and a Mesmer attribute to 8. I noticed two things. First of all, im lacking Tactics which boosts Healing Signet. Secondly i cant decide on a good Mesmer Spellclass to boost. I mainly use Backfire and Ether Feast, nothing more really. I took Inspiration to 3 to boost Ether Feast but those 15hp more dont mean the world. Backfire is Domiation starts with a nice damage but becomes increasingly useless as enemy caster begin to schrug off 35 damage. Im clueless where to invest.

My PvP skills right now are: Slash/Gash/Protecters Strike/Power Attack/Sprint/Healing Signet/Ether Feast/Backfire any hints on how to improve on that skillset are greatly appreciated!

Another quick question concerning my weapon. Im level 14, should i aim for a Dragon Sword in the near future? Its fire damage, how does that affect my attack?

Id go with illusion and some in inspiration for ether feast . The typical sword setup of sever/gash/galrath/final with conjure phantasm is pretty ownage btw and using ether feast to suck away that vital energy that w/mo need and or any caster for that matter is rather nasty

FYI, Backfire (the anti mage spell) is in Domination, if you wanted that more powerful, you would have to put points there.

I know what type of spell Backfire is. Domination. But Inspiration is also helpful for Ether Feast and Illusion is needed to boost Phantasm...see my probelm? I cant decide.

Yeah well it sounds like your're all over the place and are not sure what to do with the build. Don't try to cover all of the bases, just focus on what you'd like your character to excel at.

Yes I definetly want to do that. im going to go 12 Swordmanship, 8 Strength and then Ill look into the Mesmer spell class. Ill spend that time testing what i like most. Im still greatful for any tips you can give me.

I am a 17 War/Me as well and I ran into your predicament.

Soon you will start getting 15 points per lvl and that is when you should start putting points into your mezmer attribute, my swordsmanship/str are the same as yours and I can tell you until you get a few more lvls your hero is really not tailored for PVP.

I just got this spell and once you get it you will LOVE it like I do.
It's called Hex Breaker.
Costs very little mana, stays on you for like 40 seconds, and it's not an enchantment so it can't be removed like an enchantment (it's a stance, this means that certain spells you use will over-write it like physical resistance)

Physical resistance is an AWESOME PVE spell you literally take crap for damage, just make sure you only use it on non-elemental mobs. It would be good in pvp too but it's too unpredictable as many people care to go for elemental damage instead of physical. There is an elemental version of this but I don't have it yet.

Right now I'm using
Sever Artery
Gash
Final Thrust
Galrath Slash
Ether Lord
Inspired Hex
Hex Breaker
Ether Feast
Energy Tap
Power Attack
Pure Strike
Hundred Blades

Right now I use all of these and switch them in and out to test in pvp.
I love Going up to them, unleashing a barage of energy costing power attacks, then draining their mana for my own mana/life then using my adrenal skills + a 2nd barrage of energy costing power attacks, plus the hex breaker helps me protect against necromancers and mezmers. Only down side though is I don't have the survivability of a W/Mo.

Very helpful post, thanks.

So, what Mesmer attribute did you decide on? Right now it seems like im going for Domination. Hex Breaker (sounds awesome), Backfire and Empathy, thats 3 very powerful skills all in the field of Domination. I had 3 points in Inspiration for Ether Feast but never really used it much as in PvP and PvM 65 health points arent that much. When I need to heal i throw on Sprint and run like hell, stand back and use the natural regen and Healing Signet to get back on my feet. Besides, 3 Mesmer spells are more than enough considering I dont have much energy and that I need room for some vital Warrior skills as well.

Im going to go with this build and see how it works out, at least Im not another WaMo.
