Here's the story...
My friend is the one that got me into Guild Wars. I'm playing and I'm having a great time with it because of her.
When I first started, she talked me through pre-searing, and helped me here and there post-searing on Ascalon area quests. Starting from Yak's Bend onwards to Southern Shiverpeaks, she was there with me on pretty much every quest and mission that I had to do while we were both on at the same time.
Everytime I'd hit a town with new available armor, she'd somehow have the materials that I was short on and toss them my way for nothing. I asked her once how she coincidentally managed to always have the materials I needed for my new armor and she just said that she was best friends with Healy and Menth. At first, I thought that these were some high powered rich people in game or something...until it caught my eye one time that the Rare and Normal material traders in Ascalon city happened to be named...Healy and Menth.
I was a wammo and the first time I saw Rurik, I declared love for his flaming sword of Charrslaying goodness and the next day, she presented me with a max damage one with decent stats, again, for nothing.
Weapon parts as I needed them, various weapons and shields, materials, help on any and all quests as long as she was online...she's helped me a lot.
To be sure, I did what I could to pay her back, any necro only materials, she got for free in return (I'd stockpiled a whole crapload of bone for some reason) and any shared materials, I'd split with her 50/50 without thought to cost. When I started collecting for my 15k armor set, she helped me and I helped her with hers when she started eyeing a set.
We were good friends.
It occurred to me only the other day that with Christmas coming up soon, I could endeavor to get her a nice weapon as she'd been looking for one since I started playing with no real luck.
Looking around on the wiki and the site, I set my sights on the green Bortak's staff to gift her with...main reason being that getting both the cesta and the focus would be....slightly cost-prohibitive x.X
Herein lies the problem...
I still have two finals left to write, one tomorrow and one on Monday and with it being so close to Christmas already with friends and family to meet up with during this festive season and usher in the New Years together, I'm not sure if I'll be able to squeeze in enough time farming to work up the cash for the staff before the 25th.
So I'm asking you guys for help...
Squeezing in an hour or so here and there in between study breaks, I've scrounged together about 20k so far and I'm uncertain as to whether I'll be able to rake up enough in time. To be sure, there's no question that she's going to get that staff...it's only a matter of if it'll be in time for Christmas.
Ideally, one of you reading this will have the staff and be willing to sell it to me and let me repay you in installments so that I can guarantee that she gets it in time for Christmas. Barring that possibility, a loan would help loads as well.
I know that it's a risky business, loaning a stranger money, even if it's only currency in an online game but all I can really do to assure you is that I am a man of my word and that any money borrowed will be repaid as quickly as possible.
This is not a charity of any sort. If there are any offers of donations, they WILL be refused out of hand. All I want is to like...guarantee that I can get her this gift on time.
If no help is forthcoming between then and now...honestly, I'll understand and thank you for at least reading this far and perhaps spend the day of the 23rd ish getting my character to wherever these green items drop and hope I get lucky >.<
