how much dam does 20 armor reduce?

40 armor is 50%
20 armor is 25%
And so on....

It's not that simple - having +80 armor won't prevent 100% of damage.

Gaining 20 armor causes you to take roughly 70% of the damage you were taking before, IIRC. The actual formula is logarithmic and rather complicated.
