Well, do you have the Remember Me clicked when you log in? I've not had that problem, and have been consistenly logged in since... well I have no idea. It's been a few months.

If I recall correctly it has happened to me both with it ticked and unticked...either way I was logged in when I started typing my response.
so the powers that may be plz fix this even if it only happens if you don't have the "remember me"-box checked...
it's extremely frustrating having typed a long reply, only to have it all lost when you try to submit it.

I don't know if this can be attributed to it, but every so often, when I delete the GWG cookie, I get a "login lag" time. From my tests this lag corresponds roughly with the time from your last activity in the site to the time the site removes you from the "who's online" list. This is probably because unless you explicity log out of GWG your status is still considered online until the site kicks you off the who's online list.
The solution? You're probably using some sort of cookie blocker, or you're deleting your cookies before posting. Either way, it's a cookie problem, and after a certain number of minutes, you'll get auto-logged out.
That's what I've gathered. It may be something different, but the circumstances are the same, and point to a commonality.

in the mean time a crude but effective work around is simply every couple of minutes *copy* what you have written overwriting the previous *copy* each time.
if it goes poof you still have most of it there for one *paste* click and resume from the last *copy* you made

i have seen this in several forums types, i believe its a known bug, just click the "remember me" when you login and then click on the forum index, then goto the post and post, you should be all set then.

That always happens to me too. Even if I check Remember Me box I get logged out when I leave GWG up or close it or just type alot. And i always check Remember Me. I hate to log in all the time.

try loging in, and then immediatly log out, close the page, open back up and login, continue, refresh once, if you are still logged in, close the browser, clear your cookies, login tick rem me, click index, this is a client side cookie problem i believe, also are you using different browsers ie more than 1?, try clearing temp files also, and or offline files cashe etc. Used to have this problem here on gwg, i did all that and was fine after. Also check your browser settings and make sure the web settings where it says "always check for page updates" >>>everytime you goto the page<<<<
