As the title says I will be joining in on the Beta Weekend this week
I would like to get a little info before doing so.
Biggest question on my mind is are you able to change professions on a character or do you have to create a new character to be able to play a differant one?
Next is; does the game support controllers. I have a Logitec RumblePad 2 and just wondering if I will be able to use it for at least navigating the enviroment and menus?
Last question, I play FFXI currently, anyone who has played and enjoyed FFXI could you please give me some comparison info? I would like to know what I can find to be very similar and what is very differant.
Thankiez in advance

With the professions, when you create your character you get to choose 1 profession, this will be your primary profession. After that you are placed into the Pre-Searing Ascalon where you travel about to "learn" your second profession. Once you have a Secondary, you cannot unlearn it. So that means if you want a different Primary or Secondary profession after you have chosen both you have to start over.
Check out this thread the gamepads are talked about some here.
Never played FFXI, so can't compare the two for you.

Another thing to rmember about Pre-searing Ascalon is that even though your primary profession is stuck on you... your secondary profession has a small grace period.
Goes like this... you get asked if you want to learn a couple skills from this other profession... you say sure. Then they ask you if you would like to make the choice permanent. I would say don't answer that one right away. If you run around trying them out for a bit and don't like these new secondary skills, next time you see the trainer and she asks you if you want it permanent; say no.. Now you only have a primary profession again.
So you can change your secondary without rewriting your whole character for a little bit of time in the beginning. That's the beauty of Pre-Ascalon they WANT you to make mistakes and GIVE you options to change them. (tutorial area).
If you haven't already I would also suggest you read this.....

best beginner guide you can get for play start... if you don't want to go that far that fast..don't worry set your own pace.. but it explains much for you.
