Anet Appreciation Day

Hi guys.

Brand new to the site, though I've surfed the threads here for awhile. As my first post here, I'd like to let you in on an idea I'd been kicking around for awhile.

A-Day.

On Saturday, January 7th, 2006, a number of guilds, players and countries will gather together in Lion's Arch Intl District 1 to celebrate A-Day.

Why?

Since the games release, we've spent hundreds of hours EACH playing this game. We have a fondness for the world of Guild Wars and the potential experiences held therein. I realize there are a lot of people who have been angered by things like the AoE nerf, the 15k armor delivery, and more. You'd have to have died in the Searing not to know about that. But for all the times you got mad at Anet, did you do something about it? We've signed petitions, protested, sent emails and confronted GW reps in-game about it.

You wouldn't do that if you didn't care about the game.

When we receive visits from Gaile Gray, Alex Weekes, The Frog, etc. They take time to listen to the continuous list of wants. How many times now has Gaile answered a question about Observer Mode, Guild Storage, New pets, PvP maps, etc? Not only did she answer those questions, but she was polite, friendly, and occasionally funny about it.

We've invested hundreds of hours in this game. We pay no monthly fees and are given free updates and improvements to the game for free. Just look at Sorrow's Furnace and The Halloween Event, let alone what may come for the Winter holiday.

If we can protest and complain about what we don't like, A-Day is going to be our opportunity to show our appreciation for the things Arena Net has done.

I've been posting this to other boards already and the general response has been wonderful. I've a list of Guilds interested and people from numerous countries. If you want to take a few minutes, hours or a day out of your gameplaying to thank Anet, do me a favor and spread the word: A-day, Saturday, January 7th 2006 in Lion's Arch Intl. District 1.

If the turnout is as good as it sounds, we'll start spamming GvG opportunities in the Trade Channel and build an unofficial A-Day ladder for guilds.

Every Guild, city, country and Continent are invited. I'll be starting my little leg of the party at 12 noon EST (GMC -5:00) but time zones needn't get in the way. Just stop by and party with us on YOUR January 7th, no matter where you live.

The only thing I ask is that you spread word. I'll post reminders once a week to keep the idea alive. Let your friends, guildmates and board members know.

Thanks.

Any questions, don't hesitate to whisper me in game:

Good to hear, everyone.

There will be periodic reminders posted to help bump the idea along.

I appreciate all the Guild-announcing and the other passings-along of the information. If you spend time on any other boards, feel free to start a thread and share the idea. I'm not looking for any sort of attention for myself. Let's just get the idea out right?

With the holidays nearly here, I expect a bit of quiet and forgetfulness along the way. So long as you read a GW board now and again, you'll find some reminders through me.

Thanks again guys.

Any Q's, find me in game:

A few things to consider:

There are MANY timezones and regions players Hail from.

Some will not be able to make it at 12 EST (GMC -5:00) when I myself will be there.

With that in mind, if we do this properly, we do stand the chance of overflow. If that does happen, it means 2 things: Time to expand the party to the next District, Find things to do!

If we wanna celebrate Guild Wars for all it is, we can have whole guilds coming and going all day. Start spamming the trade channel "Druids of The Dark LFG GvG, rating 500-1000".

We can start dance offs, auctions, trade offs, mission gatherings... if nothing else, we can use this as the ultimate chance to meet the REAL GW community, those who truly enjoy and appreciate the experience of the game.

Anyway, thanks for the positivity and good work guys, spread the word. If this Thread dies off, I'll give it a weekly bump to keep it fresh in the news.

Any ideas, please, don't hesitate to make 'em.

Take it easy.

So "The Alliance" (a group of 6 guilds) Hosted a "Chrismahanakwanzakah Party" this pass Saturday. We posted on several forums (not much reply here ). Other forums even sent people to interview us.

We meet a Lion Arch #5. So how did it go? Great! lots and lots of people should up. We danced, played games (racing) and passed out Ale! Lots and Lots of Ale. We stopped counting after 600 bottles!

It seems all agreed it was a success. So it can be done and it can be fun.
