Surmia Bonus MIssion

Hi, I've been trying to do the bonus for the surmia mission for the last couple of nights, and I just don't get it. I know I'm meant to follow the ember bearers or something but they jsut attack me and my party and if we lose them and they stop following they just stand there like morons.

Thanks I read it properly and saw the instructions.

Notice that ring in the center of you radar, make sure you keep the char ember carriers outside it, inside it they'll become agg and try to eat you.
