K, so I went to the waypoint that the mission gave me and killed the skle there. No go. So I went up and down the rivers winding all around the zone killing every skale there. Still nothing. What am I doing wrong? I figure by "kill the skale brood" it just means...kill the skale. HELP. BTW if you don't know, this is the quest called "Domination Magic", from Foibles Fair. Thankss...

Well, the way it worked for me was to come down from Foibles, make a right through the bear/bandit area untill you get to the river. There I got in a fight with some bandits, and I got aggroed by skales. By the time I was done, my quest marker had been updated to return.
My guess, is that you don't have to kill the whole river, just one or two broodcallers near the rivers edge. If it doesn't work at first, rezone to Foibles and try it again. I have had several quests that didn't work the first time, only to work fine later.

No, there's actually a specific skale that spawns called a Skale Brood. (Not Broodcaller)... You have to find THAT skale and kill it.. he likes spellcasting, which is why you were given Backfire so.. um.. use it

Yes, Backfire! and when you die! go back and hit him again until he dies.
