No more drake hunting. Now what to do for item hunting?
mtxed
As of yesterday they took out drake hunting since everyone abused it.. friend got 3 golden items in 40 minutes of drake whoring.. so they drop fewer rare items so it's probably pointless to go drake whoring unless its for XP..
Any suggestions as to a new location?
W/MO20 btw.

I can easily do drake runs with henchies but i rarely ever get anything, aside from maybe a normal blue sword here and there thats Precious
The one purple item I got was with a party of other human players ;\ but then the loot is so split aganist you the chances of getting something are crap
Spike
I found that the stone summit beastmasters lvl 13 in the frost gate mission droped quite nice stuff usualy I've got several purple and gold items off them

The loot is also split to henchies, it just doesn't show that any fell if it's gets assigned to them. So the odds are the same whether you're with henchmen or a RL group. Best setup is go with a group of friends/guildies who can trade out if an elementalist gets a nice axe or a ranger gets a sweet fire staff.
Bone_White_Haze
The ideal solution, of course, is to dynamically adjust creature drops to match hunting pressure--if a herd of people heads off to the 'rich' hunting ground to get their goodies, then the goodies drop off dramatically (and show up elsewhere in the world instead).
Keeps people spread out and not camping one spot.
Hmm if the dragons are suddenly poor, perhaps the devs have already done it...

why are you wasting your time item hunting?
this game is designed so you don't have to do that to have awesome equipment.
item farming is for those other games.

I am glad they did this. There were a bunch of players who would pretend they were doing the mission, when all they ever planned to do was farm drakes. This was very annoying to those who were actually trying to do the mission.

I have a personal rule, acquistion method notwithstanding:
i never sell a blue, purple, or yellow item. EVER. If I find it. It belongs to me

i don't sell anything to players, i don't grind, i don't crap hunt, i'm not wanting for anything, have about 10 plat, have resources coming out of my but, and i just hit 20...i've also pimped out 2 alts with fantastic gear.
so why the hell does anyone need to farm anything or spam the trade channel peddling crap?
Are they just sitting on mountains of gold for the pure joy of hoarding it?? Or are they such impulsive buyers themselves that they are constantly upgrading their equipment when they don't really need to, and have to do this just to support their habit of buying crap??
Play how you want, but i just don't understand why people want to waste their time in this game grinding, farming and spamming when it's completely unnescessary.
I think these people may have just been brainwashed into thinking crap farming was fun by all those other games, and now can't break out of the habit.

I killed it when I was a noobie, didn't get any good drop. He's in the middle at the end of the river when it expands into a circle pond-ish thing.
Pandora's box
I dont know about drake hunting yet, but I do know doing mission after mission is not the proper way to keep the game interesting. The game is not designed for leveling, no, and strong items therefore are not 'done'. But its simply a fact that rpg players like to gather and a monster suddenly dropping something that makes you much stronger is really kicking And much more fun than looking at all those red dots and waiting for the right moment when they are separetad enough to kill some of them. I really would like the game to award killing monsters more instead of rewarding missions! And the simple need to team up everytime becomes a bit annoying after a while. So: Yes, let monsters drop good stuff, give good experience and dont force people into a team where everyone has 'equal powers' because after level 20 'it only depends on skill and not on stuff'...

I sell good items I don't need to people all the time. I don't spam the trade channel like some people do, but usually when I go to sell loot I have an extensive list of things up for grabs. This ensures that when I do sell stuff, most of the time I am going to take up a few lines in the trade channel. If the trade channel bothers you, and if as you have said you don't ever sell anything to other players, simply turn off the trade channel. Problem solved.

But the elite armor set is 75k, that's like 30 fiery dragon swords...XD

To b e the ultimate warrior, you need the ultimate equipment, and so far I only have 3 Warrior Runes.. Only way is to get what other people need and trade with them.

It's a SOJ!! I know the feeling, 3 years and never found a single soj, but had 70+ through trading based off market, yes there was a market!! Who remembers ghoul stingers from non expansion? The yearly account hacks? I know I do ^^
Shadowdaemon
if you dont like to trade then dont do it, but i think it makes money just fine, along with drake runs, i made 30000 in about 2 days and got my guild a guild hall...

You farm for money, so that you can afford the 15k armor later on.
EDIT: Romac your wrong. Its the fact that a dragon sword looks cool, or that the 15k armor looks just a little different. Its true that you cant have any *uber* weps, but if you can afford it you can have some damn nice looking gear.

So where to farm?

Point is, you don't need to 'farm' anything. You don't need to merchant/trade. You don't need to make any special effort at all beyond picking creature drops up and selling what you don't need.
By the time you get to where that armor is sold, you'll have 15k. More, in fact.

Riverside?
Anyways, I've tried selling, even some awesome bows, hammers, things like that, even back in ascalon city, whatever. It just takes too much time to sell crap when most people filter out the trade channel. I just post what I'm selling, then I wait 5 mins, then get frustrated and don't sell. Sometimes, I do get the buyer quickly, but rarely. It seems that trading to people is for people who have alot more time on their hands, or for people that don't care about using alot of their time trading instead of playing and having fun. That's just my take on it.

I say let people farm mediocre items from Drakes if they want to ... while they are sitting there farming crap items, the rest of us are pushing our way through the high level content and getting MUCH MUCH MUCH better items w/o having to do any farming at all.
People are farming because other games have taught them to do it ... it's not their fault they are ignorant.

i don't think its farming just to get money. there is an excitement involved when great items are dropped
Ishamael Sedai
if someone wants to just use items that he/she picks up and not buy/sell/trade then the game economy and what other people enjoy doesn't affect them much at all
Ishamael Sedai
for me buying and selling is so much fun. i am a big morrowind fan. i love that game. but one of the great things about this game compared to that is the human aspect. i just love trying to wheel and deal.
