restoring game after err=7 connection error
Kris_Tof
It happened to me so many times that I was about to complete a mission, and then... BANG ... big lag... lost of connection, good to restart the mission all over again.
I understand this is not related to arena.net in particular (they don't own the Internet... Yet... ) but how are would it be to restored to game at the last crash point (unlesss you are in co-op mode - I understand it would not work alright)...
Any tech answer out there ?
BTW !! This game rules ! And this site too !!

This happened to me yesterday. I was in the middle of the D'Alessio Seaboard mission, so I had to start over.
But it wasn't just me, when I logged back on, everyone said they we're kicked, so it wasn't a client-side problem.

No way currently to get back in to a mission in you got kicked for some reason or other.
Last I heard they were working on something for that, but I wouldn't expect much. That kind of thing is sort of tough to do since all the missions are instanced like this.

I was able to fix this error finally by just undoing my Belkin Wireless Router and going straight from the the DSL box to the back of my pc with ethernet. I no longer have wireless but at least I can play the game now without the constant hang-ups

i get this Error all the time... .. i know it has something to do with my router... but it's not like i can hook up my internet directly cause i have 2 other computers and they all need internet... for my sisters and parents to go on...

When I first got guild War (Launch) I only every got this once and when i did, everyone with me said they got kcied too. However the last 2 days have been a nightmare. I've been getting kiked left right and center (Okay about 5 times a day but at the end of the Wilds mission its enough to make me do my own personal version of cry of frustration )
I've scanned my comp for spyware, virus updates and the like but nothing out of the ordianry.
If anyone can help me with this it's be great. (Was checking the tech forum bfore but now it's down for some reason )
Currently Playing from Australia, Victoria on 512/256 broadband.

Playing GW on teamspeak there were players on completly different parts of the map, different zones.. areas, some PVP'ing some not..and they report a crash at the same time.
whilst I can accept that routers and firewalls poorly configured MAY cause such a problem.. it just cant be cooincidence.. people who have nothing to do with each other are reporting this at the same time.
Whenever I see the 'update' and it says.. 'fixed rare crashes'.. im like dammit what about the not so rare ones???..
or if they are simply the server crashing... let us know so people dont start poking around in their router settings
Or even a netgraph for goodness.. at least we may have some warning!!
at first i didnt mind the odd crash, but after Lions Arch it does seem more often and more annoying.

That error is the worst thing about DSL connections. When a phone call is initiated or terminated I lose the connection and hours of my life. I nearly break into tears when I hear the phone ring!

I was just posting about this in another thread. In a sick sort of way, I'm glad it isn't just me. At least I know I don't have something wrong. I don't know how many times I got error 7, but I was feeling real bad since I thought I was leaving party members stranded alone. Chances are, by the way this thread sounds, they got disconnected as well. I am leary to do a long mission since I don't want to get disconnected and not make it, or have peeps think I skated on them.
I really hope we find a fix for this problem. This game is so captivating, and immersive, it just breaks my heart when I get cut off.

I'm using Wireless and I've noticed when I'm on Ventrillo with Guildmates, I get disconnected more often. May just be coincidence, but I don't think so. It's like GW's latency tolerance is extremely low and it disconnects you at the slightest hint of lag.

If error=7 truly is because of a network disconnection problem, then there isn't a ton that a.net can do. That's more of a hardware issue or something that needs to be taken up with your ISP.
True, a.net could make their network connectivity a little more flexible, like extending timeout periods or accepting more packet loss, but it's still a stopgap solution for the real problem.
It's sort of like driving on the road and blaming the car for the potholes. Sure, you could put in softer springs and shocks/struts, but ultimately you're still compensating for a bad stretch of asphalt that will still cause you problems.
Problems just tend to be more obvious when playing games than when web surfing. First person shooter players tend to be more aware of network issues as their style of play is most greatly affected by bad network connections.

I play CS:S and Enemy Territory ALL THE time and never get dropped. I get dropped at least once a session while playing GW and running Vent. If not running vent, it's like once every 3 sessions or so. Again, I don't ever remember dropping from an FPS game.
But I do agree with you, if you have a crappy ISP or are on a crappy segment, there's nothing they can do.

I don't run Ventrillo or Teamspeak or anything like that, and I've had a few E=7 crashes.
The odd thing is that I'm on a cable modem and never crashed like this in any other online game, games with higher specs than GW. I'm hard wired to a wireless router, my son plays on a laptop with wireless. He doesn't get any E=7s.
It's unpredictable too. I can click loot and crash. Or say something and crash. Once I finished a mission, saw the sword go through the shield, clicked Skip to skip the cinematic and crashed. When I came back the sword wasn't in the shield and I had to do the mission over. That hurt.
