Well, take a good collector staff ( I'm a 2 handed fan ) get hale and fortitude on it. Thats my favourite, but you can take other stuff too.
* Hale and fortitude upgrade give you +60 hp

I like Morgriffs Sceptor, its 1-handed so u can use any offhand u prefer and it has GLOBAL 10/10 mods... not to metion its one of few cheap greens

I would say Collectors Bone Staff with Insightful Head and Wrapping of Defence/Fortitude.

Collecters has the BEST mods if your ONLY going to use death magic otherwise u want GLOBAL mods..........I used to use strictly death magic so the collecters staff with +5 energy and +30 health was the best for me

I use Morgrifs Septer 10%/10% global, and a Grim Cesta right outside of the droknars entrance on a collector for 5 averica scalps 20%/20% Death Magic recharge and speed
BUT, the only way to get lv 19 minions is to get the Bortaks Bone Cesta Which has +1 death magic %20 chance, ive been unable to find anything else like this

Collectors FTW. There's a +10 en/+30 health/20% +1 Death offhand you can get from a collector in the Maguuma Jungle; I believe it trades for 5 Mossy Mandibles.

I like the +15/-1 wand and +27/-1 offhand myself.
Only having 2 energy regen isn't a problem since soul reaping is triggering so often from summon & enemy deaths, and having that larger energy pool ensures less of the SR benefits are wasted.

So what? It's easily obtained, and it's cheap. In some ways it's better than Bortak's, which is priced beyond reason. 2 less energy is no big deal (47 vs. 49 with scarmour), so basically buy buying Bortak's I'd be paying 150k+ to trade 30 health for a 20% chance of fastcast. Not worth it, IMO.

AGREED... most green items are WAY overpriced for the mods they have, u can usually find collecters items that are just as good or very similiar!

I dunno, I rather enjoy Bortak's Bone Staff for my necro. Friend of mine gave it to me for christmas, so I'm good to go 
But for the most part, collector items are the way to go if you're not lucky to get a green as a drop.
