60 seconds between searches
Willy Rockwell
I see the wait time between searches has been lengthened to 60 seconds. Are you out of your minds?? Why in the world should I have to wait a full minute to revise my search terms? What do you care how many times I search. This is ridiculous.

Server stress. It's either that or the auction system, right?
chris_nin00
It's bandwidth...
Yeah I hate the wait to, but what Lasareth said,
"It's either that or the auction system, right?"

We are testing some things for server load right now. You'll see some minor changes such as this while we optomize the site. These changes aren't permanent but a longer search time is certainly more acceptable than not even being able to access the search because of server load.

I think you guys just need to learn how to use the search feature. Modding the Sanitarium I've got to search for old topics every day and not once in the past few weeks have I had to edit my search. Always manage to find it first time.

So perhaps you could enlighten us on your noble search tactics?

i always seem to get the 30 sec message the first time i run a search. I wouldn't doubt its my fault somehow, but man it gets annoying.

We'd definitely prefer to keep the site pay-free so it is accessible by everyone, but the idea of voluntary of donation is one that I am personally not opposed to. However, things are running pretty well as it is now (I can't see how Inde manages it ) so as the system is now, seems like the best way.

Malice Black, I have an even better and easier solution If people would allow ads to show through on the site (meaning take off your ad-blockers for this individual site) then it would be a win-win for all and we could afford a dedicated server But people aren't going to do that.
chris_nin00
I'll take off my ad blockers Inde,
But I don't want to be scared this shiznit out myself like SOT .
Think of it as a Christmas Present to the site
Hopefully Animated avatars will make their arrival soon. Just kidding.
