My Meleemancer Build

Usually I take a Zealous PvP Sword of Fortitude and a Vampiric PvP Sword of Defense. 15^50 sometimes, but alot of the time it is a 15% if enchanted, due to the continous Blood Renewel and any party enchants such as Order of Pain, Aegis, etc.

I much prefer a Warrior Primary for Virulence{E} builds due to the benefit you gain from Strength and the nice duration time of Virulence at moderate skill levels.

Curses seems to be the most popular choice for a N/W due to Spiteful Spirit, Mark of Pain, Enfeebling Blood and Parasitic Bond.

All three very good skills but they all don't work very well together due to cast times and energy costs. For PvP atleast, PvE all 4 at once is the way to go usually, well except MoP now, it scatters. :P

Mark of Pain PvP Build:

Curses: 12+3+1
Sword: 12
Blood: 3+1

Awaken the Blood
Mark of Pain
Parasitic Bond
Enfeeble // Enfeebling Blood
Hundred Blades{E}
Galrath Slash
Watch Yourself! // Bonnetti's Defense
Flurry
Bonnetti's Defense // Res Signet

That build relies heavily upon having a support healer and protector, other than Enfeebling Blood which has a nice, 23(?) second duration.

I usually run Enfeeble if I don't trust my monks, but Enfeebling Blood is awesome on IWAY and other 3+ Warrior teams.

I've had 2 of these in a group before and due to the great job that was done by our 2, yes only 2 monks, and a couple Heavy Conditioners with Epidemic we killed a modified IWAY in under two minutes from start of round. A ViM! Trap team took a little longer due to a couple enemies getting a ViM! off. But they still dropped as SOON as they balled up on us.

We had 2 of these MoP N/W, a R/N Heavy Conditioner and a N/Me Condition Spread and Order Spam, 2 Me/E with Deep Freeze and other water goodies and 2 Monks.

Was pretty slanted towards teams who ball up, but we saw so many ViM and IWAY teams that we said why not, got knocked off right before HoH from a VERY well coordinated Energy Surge/Chain Lightning build.

I'm kinda surprised no one's used Grenth's Balance in a build for the meleemancers...It's a big amount of burst damage I'm trying to think of a way to implement it into a Meleemancer myself(just for fun no real reason PvP onry).

I think most of the time if you're not using a good Zealous weapon of some sort a melee mancer is going to run into energy problems. So switching your off hand foci might be nice.

just brain storming.

I thought of making a lot of sacrificial damage using Awaken the Blood to deal more damage to yourself. Then Grenth's Balance for a chunk of damage. Thrill of Victory after we have more life then them...or something.

Maybe we could find something along this path?

In most of the builds I've seen I haven't seen a lot that blended it seemlessly.

I was one of the First meleemancer's I think(since BWE). This build is mine for PvE, and was used with Sword Combat in mind:

Blood Magic - 14
Swordsmanship - 10
Soul Reaping - The rest of my Attribute points

Skills:
Well of Blood - This is mostly to make up for your lack of Soul Reaping Att points, just try to keep 15 Energy on hand
Shadow Strike - Always open your attack with Shadow Strike
Vampiric Gaze - Since you're still at a distance when you use Shadow Strike, use this next.
Vampiric Touch - Only use this at a convinient time(If Shadow Str and Gaze take down much of the health, save your energy)
Awaken The Blood - Use this skill before any other to maximize your skill attacks
Savage Slash - To interupt healing or stun skills the enemy may use.
Unholy feast - If your health is in a pinch and you're surrounded(which is the case much of the time), use this skill
Rez Sig

For PvP I would go With Fanatics Armor
Attribute points would be the same as above with the exception of a maxed out Swordsmanship att(Soul Reaping at least 5 months ago when I played PvP wasn't as effective as Swordsmanship)

Skills:
Life Transfer - Open with this attack, when you use Shadow Str, the enemy should still be above 50% Max Health
Shadow Strike - Use this after Life Xfer
Vampiric Gaze - Because you are at a distance after using Shadow Str, use this to cause more consecutive damage
Vampiric Touch - Unlike the PvE char, you don't have the burden of WoP, so Use this as soon as you can after the first set of attacks
Awaken the Blood - Use this skill before any other
Sever Artery - This skill is very conveniant. Not only does it cause great damage when used along with Gash, but it doesn't expend energy.
Gash
Rez Sig

I haven't been back into GW for a while, but these builds seemed to be effective back in the day.

Bear in mind that I have yet to have a Necromancer kill me in 1v1 combat in PvP(when singled out).

To Locus:

Grenth's Balance is best used with a sacrifice heavy build, such as Dark Pact, Barbed Signet, Touch of Agony, with Awaken the Blood and Dark Aura active. You sacrifice yourself down to very low health then you swap targets, hit grenth's balance and then either swap back or start in on that target after some sort of self heal or health steal.

The only really useful sacrifice ability is Touch of Agony to a melee mancer, which is slightly too energy dependent and takes a slot from a more useful ability, such as Life Siphon or Strip Enchantment to name two from the same magic school.

Also Grenth's Balance is an Elite, which means you cannot take advantage of skills such as Life Transfer, which helps you max out degen, Hundred Blades, when used with Order of Pain stacks a good deal of damage, Hundred Blades and Mark of Pain for some serious AoE damage, Spiteful Spirit which can put a hurting FAST on any team that balls up or even has just a couple that stand near each other (Good for taking out warriors attacking your monks if you hit one with Spiteful and then Mark of Pain then start taking it to them)

Over all it is a very good skill, one that can be used to great affect for survival, nothing better than getting spiked then hotkeying Grenth's Balance out and negating the spike.

To Jecht:

Your builds are really only using the Warrior Secondary as a means to interrupt and/or cause a couple conditions.

A N/Me can accomplish both much more efficiently through the ability to cause the conditions from afar. Even a N/R would work out better due to the fact you are mostly a Necro, but only using a couple skills for hindrance and/or minor damage.

Not saying the builds wouldn't work, but the way the meta-game has evolved and led to new ways of combining skills to gain more and more powerful effects, with a quicker and more efficient method your build is outmoded and the best you can expect is someone to not realize what you are doing.

And for PvE, near anything works But adding more AoE attacks might help more than a few single target attacks. Such as Signet of Agony combined with plague sending for AoE 40ish damage with Awaken the Blood on and AoE Bleeding all for 10 energy.

Cyclone Axe with a Zealous haft and bonneti's can gain you more energy than Well of Power can any day. Hell just Cyclone Axe with a Zealous haft could, which frees your elite up for something like Eviscerate{E} which is a very nice axe elite that causes Deep Wound, Spiteful Spirit which is the most effective and efficient PvE AoE in the game at the moment, or anything else that catches your fancy. Also with axe Disrupting Chop, though adrenaline dependent, is arguably the best melee interrupt due to the fact it recharges the skill interrupted for 20 seconds.

U will need blood magic for this build to replenish your health while you fight,as you can see,you are a necro tanking. Blood magic is a must or not you will be taken down very easily

Wow, I'm glad to see that this thread has gone on so long haha.

I kind of gave up on the build, but now I'm thinking of coming back.

I had a new idea. Before I always used to think of doing sword, but I have found that axes are very good in PvP.

Curse/Axe/Tactics?

I built a MM, hes level 6 and I got full 15k and an 87k death staff, and I changed my mind on the whole MM deal so I want to ascend to N/W...

Just an out of topic question; I used one skill point on like bone minion of something and I want to ascend to N/W instead. Since I used that skill point will it somehow hurt my choice of going N/W?

Oh, and will 15k Necrotic be ok for a meleemancer?

It won't hurt your skill gains for being a N/W later. All you will need to do when you feel the need for a few more Skill Points is farm a little. And all you would need for that really is:

Parasitic Bond
Bonnetti's Defense
Enfeebling Blood
Spiteful Spirit
Shield Stance
Cyclone Axe
<Skill of Choice>
<Skill of Choice>

My two skill of choice are usually Suffering and Watch Yourself! or Healing Signet and Watch Yourself!

With those you can lay the smack on griffons all night long and gain as many points as you have a stomach to experiance out.

As for armor I go with the tattoos for more energy, with Watch Yourself and a stance up most the time you will be sitting pretty good with all the surrounding enemies weakened. Especially if you swap to a vampiric mod when you get a good group around you to kill.

harmstring
plague touch

I have 15 on blood 10 on sword and 4 on soul reaping.
Now i use this build in RA because of the monks tahts y i got mark of sub, strip enchantment and harmstring, i was thinking of adding and interupt skill too

For AB

life transfer
vampiric gaze

Well of blood
sever artery

The only diference is that igot well of blood there to heal team

The thing about the melemancer is that he cant do everything, he cant kill monks unless u use some itnerupts etc. Also any suggestions would be helpful
