So if the game is based on skill...
Overnite
Why aren't the skillbars showing in the observer mode ?
If there's only skill involved in winning, then a team should not worry if their uber secret build "leaks" outside. In "professional level" games like Warcraft, you can copy the pros all you want- you won't get better (pros use the mainstream strategies anyway). So, why should Guild Wars be different ? Is Anet trying to hide the fact that the "skill" only involves inventing an abusive build and using voice communication to execute it ? Or are they just trying to prevent more "cheese" from entering the game that's already based on "flavor of the month" strategies ?

Skill is also strategy. Part of the strategy is knowing which mix of skills with which mix of players will produce a winning team.
fallot
Edit: I'm sleepy and confused. You can see the skills they use, whats the problem ?

Skill also involves LOOKING at and OBSERVING what the players are doing and figuring out their skill sets. Sigh. Some people are just too afraid to use the strange round thing that sits on their shoulders.

Excellent.

Coping Skills and YOU
1. Click on the Player you want to copy
2. Take sceenshots of the skills of see
3. Put it together with paint
And now you got a totally copied skill bar in which you can steal and use .
Funny I thought higher guilds would complain about players copying their builds, not players complaining about not being able to copy high ranked guild's builds. ^_^

It is funny, some people think that knowing skill bar will make them a better player. I don't want to sound rude but if you can't figure out good skill combos by yourself, how you can be a good PvP player in first place. You lack thinking which is important there. Strategies change and suddenly copied skill bar is very bad. Copycats are good in PvE because enemies skills and strategies are always same.
PvP is not just about skills. It is also good team work, fast thinking, being adaptive and watchful.
If those things feel too hard, welcome to 500+ rank guilds.

Diablo???
Ouch!
But I agree.
But I agree.

I bet to differ, there are some combos and builds that are overpowered and high ranked guilds want to keep them secret *Cough* IWAY *Cough*.

If you're gonna copy someones build you need to learn it, what can counter it, what its strong against, what its weak against, who to avoid, who to target, when to use what... the list just goes on.

Ok so I can figure it out fairly quickly, but PvE is forgiving. Take a build you have no clue about into PvP and your ass is gonna be handed to you. On the rare occasions I have PvP'ed, I've gone in with builds that I myself know very well... and still not been hugely successful.

I come up with different builds in PvE and PvP both on my own, but I would be telling a HUGE lie if I said I never copy exact skills from someone else's build on occasion. Just having the skills doesn't mean success but its a huge first step, I would say 60-75% of the way to being successful. Most of the time if you read the skills, and what they do you see how they work together. Its just that you never looked at using them together before.
By saying that you need to come up with your own ideas and that is the only way it will work means that there is only one successful invinci monk, only one IWAY team that wins, etc...

I don't know any secret build the top guilds use so I can't use an example.
Well I run into a bunch of mesmer that owned our balanced. I had no idea what they we're doing it seemed like a secret build .

how many thread r we going to see of this crap get over it, observer mode is here now and its staying. Most of the ppl complaining about a build dont have a great one or use one that every1 knows and thinks they dont or its still really great.
Warskull
If you want to "steal" a top guild's build poke around on some various guild wars fan sites. EPs build has been posted and stolen by tons of guilds. It is a strong build, but they almost always execute it poorly. Now on the line of voice communication, this is quite simply mandatory. If you don't run good voice com you will not be able to stay competitive and organized in GvG. Most high ranked guilds require voice com and a mic. There is simply no time to type all the important info during a match.
Most higher ranked guilds have a general idea what their contemporaries are running. They can also reconstruct 80-90% of the build after the match just from the skill monitor. You should be able to get very similar info from the skill monitor.
As for arena.net not choosing to include skillbars. I have no clue why, A.net is fickle and makes strange choices. It may be a concession to people who want to keep builds top secret or there can be other reasons.
