In Guild Wars you can get drunk(darwen ales, eggnogs), so kids go do that, and i hope that will not influence you in your life whats so ever.
You can set someone on fire and you see them buring, Yeeeeeee Pyromaniacs.
Hear/See people swear
Hmmmmmmm these are all things kids see when they play GW, and you dont think they dont know about blood. right.
And you cannot see a spray of blood. just a spray, atlease when i make someone bleed .

Remember that each Guild Wars customer is not subjected to recurring monthly fees and that ArenaNet incurs substantial operating costs in order to provide players with a subscription-free product and customer service. ArenaNet cannot recoup its expenses by implementing every little idea players devise; moreover, unlike other subscription MMOG providers, ArenaNet is not obligated to implement every little idea either.
I'm reasonably certain that ArenaNet solicits feedback from the community using various methods, but keep in mind that such feedback is extensively filtered. For example, feature suggestions that necessitate cost-ineffective solutions, contractual amendments, and ESRB recertification are largely ignored by management. Remember: you may play games to have fun, but interactive entertainment development studios and publishing houses create and manage products to do business. I would have ignored this thread, as I'm not fond of the whining that often occurs on MMOG forums, but I believe that gamers need to understand that games are products too. Once gamers understand this simple truth, gamers can more appropriately provide effective feedback that will enhance their experience. Basically, whining about ideas that will never be considered is a waste of effort. |
While it is free of monthly charge, one tend to think that A.net have no obligation to further satisfy it customer other than what it in its package product. However, I do think A.net should keep a constant update to further full fill the content of GW world, for the reason that UPDATE EXPANSION PACK. If A.net want people to buy those, they better do a good job at keeping their existing client base, as well as gather new buyer/player, all of which translate to the need of upkeeping and adding new stuff to keep player interested and happy.
Actually, it seem unlike other MMO, user feed back have lot more voice to Anet than other MMOs. Hisotry has shown that while not all what we ask for in the fourm is added, few of those were added. And it is the right thing to do for any dev to listen to the players and what they actually want, and what would keep them happy.
And you are blind to the oppertunity in this. If alot of people ask for such, I see a future "Gore and Blood Package", much like the Directsong package, dish out a few buck, click/sign that you are over 17, and get a visual effect pack that would give you blood and gore, decaptation and more death effect. Good way to make some money I do say, especially when they got alot of the blood effect work out before. Now, all you need is to have more people /sign for it. (also I will take a 5% cut of the profit for suggesting this idea... )

that is because there is no real call for it except for a few people who are bored.
they will not revise or jeoprodize their current ESRB rating for a few people who want pools of blood.
get Dungeon Siege and DS2 for spurts of blood to make you happy.
also the extra bandwidth would cost a bit more and they would lose more future sales than they would gain.
adding blood /graphic violence is a lose/lose situation for them.
if no blood is a deal breaker for you the game community is better off in my opinion.
play it as they make it or ta-ta

Lol first of all im not bored of this game
Just a few people who want blood?...i dont think so , i acctualy didnt care untill i saw the number of people in game complainting that they dont see realism. Ive asked them and one of their response was because of blood. I ignored that but now after i played PvP for over 1 1/2 months , i like it but there is a flaw, something missing. That is blood, i dont see why not atleast when you are in the condition of bleeding , you cant see JUST A SPRAY!!!!! NOT A POOL OF BLOOD!!!! JESUS!!!!!. All of your responses were like " go play a game with lots of pools of blood, or like with spurs of blood" , I dont really want that much gore , i want gore with a limitaion acctualy. This is not like Diablo and i like it. A SPRAY of blood.
I will not play something else, my WoW expired and so did my Lineage 2 account since GW.
Extra bandwidth?....For what?...a spray of blood?.........wow....just think about it!!! Put some logic into it . Leave the technical side out , if you can see blinding condition then im sure you can see A SPRAY of blood.
lose/lose situation?......no ofense but i think you want to implement that in their mind so they wont do it. A much more mature audience will be attracted. If they make the right choices im sure they will have more of like a win / win.
So you want the gaming community with like some people who like the same old things over and over again, and not a little bit of realism? Wow im surprised of how people react to this, very few brave mens in here. (and that was a joke of course if you can take one, and not personal).

I think GuildWar is ok without blood...doesn't need to get detailed like real life, in my opinion.
There are too many detailed gory scenes everywhere already...games, movies...sadly even real life.
I noticed people links blood/decapitate with "realism"...
I would defenitely don't want to witness someone who is decapitated, spaying blood all over the place in "real life".
Gory detail on/off switch?
Sure, I can always turn it off to avoid gory details. No problem with me.
But we also have to consider ESRB rating, since ArenaNet is aiming for large variety of audiences(age, region, etc)
Let's put kids in example.....it is like telling a kid not to eat cookies, but leaving cookie jar in kid's room....assuming he/she will not eat it because you closed the lid.
Attracting mature audiences...
I'm pretty sure GuildWars did a great job attracting mature people without putting gory details...that's why you and I'm playing this game right?
Furthermore, I see mature fans still playing this game even though there is no blood....because it is fun and enjoyable(plus it is well made game)
As long as game is well made and entertaining, it will have no problem attracting mature audiences, in my opinion.
Well...that's all I have to say I guess
By the way, Merry Christmas everyone

Fact: Blood and gore are inappropriate for this title and its market. ArenaNet is not interested in the "Mature" market.
Fact: Sales of "Mature"-rated games are far less than that of "Teen"-rated games.
Fact: If Guild Wars was a "Mature"-rated title, sustainment of current business operations would be difficult, if not impossible, given less sales which means less operating income.
Well, I'm out of this thread. This discussion is a waste of my time.

The major problem i see with implementing blood not only alienates younger players but just think for a second wher Anet comes from... NCsoft... Ncsoft, if i'm not mistaken, comes from and is the biggest MMO company in South Korea. In S.K. they have strict laws on gaming. For instance Starcraft, one of South Korea's favourites, could only be there after the blood was removed. So blood in GW would not only alienate younger players but also our Korean pals.

I agree with ActionJack.....I dont want to see gore and pools of blood, and spurs all of the place. Just a Spray of Blood.
Lexar
Whenever someone is in favor of seeing just even the slightest blood in the game, others think they want to see a gore fest like firering a flak cannon from UT from short range with gibs flying and blood slattering all over the place. That's not at all what (most of us) mean.
Hells Vengeance
Adding blood (even with choice of taking it out in options) means higher rating, meaning parents don't like it and sales are lower, and this game doesn't have to be realistic, its a fantasy game. Also some of us that are talking about more bandwith aren't just talking about blood, we are also talking about other ways of attacking too. Alot of people lag enough as it is. A-net has to think about these things instead of putting everything in as some people want them to.
