I wonder what the channel bandwidth is going to be, max is 25kbits/s and 8 players is usally the norm for each channel.

I am happy for the devs of Teamspeak - hopefully gets them a big boost.

Anybody know what the channel specs (kbits/s) are going to be and what the number of players per channel ?

hehe... that devine aura is tempting... but i'm cheap so i'm going to stick with my Ithas bow for now. hopefully they do something like this for every chapter. it would help them rake in some extra money.

Ya it would, and I'm worried about ArenaNet making a monthly fee because they can't afford to do GW.

they won't... they might vary the prices of the expansions at the very most... but monthly fees are out of the question for A.Net.

I'm not expecting it, but GW will be costly to run and if they feel the need they might put a low monthly fee like $3 a month.

I'm always where I'm at, or else I'm nowhere, man.

Kewl... this kinda/sorta justifies my holding out on buying the pre-order package. Now I just have to convince my local EB games to reserve a copy for me. Last time I asked 'em to, the A: never heard of the game, B: released it late, C: almost charged me the wrong price and D: almost didn't give me the special DVD video thingy that was supposed to go with a reserved copy (like mine).

Although to be fair, it had nothing to do with that specific location, it was a muck-up on the corperate level. I don't blame the store employees at all, they were extraordinarily human about it.

ArenaNet will do amazingly well...and keep their promises.
because i believe quality always prove itself

before i found out about guildwars, my favorite developer was blizzard for their quality games. blizzard's quality games have been always popular(can you believe they still make starcraft patch?...now i call that a quality service)

after the guildwars beta...ArenaNet have proved itself worthy of my fav developer list. guildwars just blew my mind...above my expectations.
Im a big fan of ArenaNet now

i wish ArenaNet will do so well that they keep release fun quality games in the future
busy advertising guildwars to my friends these days :P

thanks ArenaNet for guildwars

I love AN too, what I wanna know. Is what your next game will be?

I know they will do multiple exspansions. But for new games, I dunno.

Let's all hope its a Guild Wars 2

This may be redundant, but since my pre-order is with Best Buys, if I choose the deluxe package instead of the standard edition, will I still get the special item (shield) designated by the pre-order purchase because it will be purchased from Best Buys? Is the special item assigned because of the pre-order package or is it assigned by final purchase? Is NC Soft really going to produce x number of games with the special item per vendor based on the pre-order and not on actual purchases by the buyers?

im pretty sure it will work like this

preorder + regular = preorder special item
preorder + collectors = preorder and collectors special item

the pre-order gives vendor estimated popularity of the game among gamers.
the pre-order also guarantees that "you" get a copy of the game.
so, if vendor sees potential of the game...they will probably order extra amount of copies, so that "everyone" can get hands on a copy..not only people who pre-ordered.

That I understand having been a media/hardware buyer way back when video recorders sold for $1500 (guess the year!) and the computer of choice was the TRS80, but the basis for my question really boils down to if NC Soft bases the character specific items on the pre-order disc or on the actual game disc. I tend to think that it is based on the pre-order disc we loaded.

for pre-order item...i think it will be based on account
you make account with pre-order key.
that account will be saved on their server
once you buy the full version game and log on to your account which you created with pre-order...you will have preorder special item
BUT
if you make a brand new account with full version game, no special item

Question
I preordered Guild Wars and have received the preorder package. Where do I find the special in-game item?

Answer
Your special item will become available when the game is released. The item will be given to your account's characters when you create them.

That headset looks mighty tempting, my junky $10 sony's are falling apart.

Does anyone know if the aura will give any bonus' to the characters stats? or is it a purely cosmetic feature?

Why not spend the $30 you'd spend on a collector's edition on a good pair of headphones? A music CD and art book are nice and all, but if you're going to be a die-hard Guild Wars junkie you're going to want some real headphones, not some throwin.

I'd guess that it'd be limited to making your character's shiny - or it's an equipped item that will eventually be replaced by something available in the game. In any case the odds are incredibly long that it will have any influence on competitive balance in the long run.

Peace,

Ok, the special item (Ithas Bow, War Pick) is from the preorder package or from preordering (Europe's Chemeric Prism). The Divine Aura is from the CE. You can have both, most definitely. The item is given to your account directly, and not through a vendor. Each of your characters has the unique item and/or possibly the Divine Aura, too. You simply use the CE Retail Key on the account that had the Preorder Key and you will receive both item and aura.

I think the SPR of the headphones is somewhere over $20. They're not chessy, I promise.

Is this only true for characters that exist at the start of the game (April 27th), or will these items be in the inventory of any characters I start later? For example, if I play for three weeks, then create a new character, will that new character have the item(s)?

It does make a whee bit bitter that they now released the collectors edition (two weeks after I pre-ordered the normal one ) I mean, if I was made of money you know what I'd be doing...but since im not, I'll just have to bitterly glare at anyone with a shiny aura in game methinks. God that Art book would have been sweet though...

The preorder item and the Divine Aura are account based. So you will could have a special item and/or an aura for each character you create on that account into the future. I will verify for 100% certainty, but I'm quite comfortable that this will be how it's going to work.

"The suggested retail price for the Collector’s Edition is $79.99. Contents and pricing may vary outside of North America."

well, that alone just made me preorder the CE from bestbuy.com to lock in the $59.99..
i wonder what i am going to do with two copies of the game and an extra pre-order package..

Hmm. BestBuy.com doesn't list the Collector's Edition in their options. Just a "Deluxe Edition". My guess is they'll just cancel your order based on the fact that the product doesn't exist.

Either that, or they'll send you a regular copy of GW, bundled with a Logitech head-set and a copy of Roger Wilco. They're certainly not under any obligation to send you the Collector's Edition if that's not what you ordered...

I've looked at multiple websites, and they say Deluxe Edition. It has same features, same box(there's a warrior too)and same price. They proablly just changed the name.

Edit: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...#more-pictures

That link is where you can buy it on amazon. It says Deluxe Edition in text, but on the picture that I put up it says Collector's Edition so clearly it's a mistake by the makers.

Will the Divine Aura be unique to those who purchase the CE or is it possible to obtain one while playing?

I'm wondering about this as well. Best Buy has said that whatever price is lower for a pre-order item (pre order, or announced retail price) is what you will pay. Well, by simply having the name be "collector's edition" they may have skirted the issue completely. However, I was just charged for the "Deluxe Edition" on Tuesday, so hopefully that means that I will be picking up the "CE" edition the day it is released.

it will be a customized item that appears in your inventory after you make your character. that means only that particular character could equip it. the pre-order items and the CE item will not be available any other way.

You may very well be right, but assumption is the mother of all fsck-ups...

BTW, why are you even bothing to provide a link to a retailler? These are the same people who said the release date was Feb 4th, then March 18th, etc, etc, when there was no official release date at all! You're acting like a link to a retailer's website is better evidence that a link to a picture of your morning tea-leaves. We should all know better than that by now. They've been advertising a Deluxe Edition before there was even a Collectors Edition, and providing details when there were no details available. They may very well sell you the Collector's Edition if you ordered their imaginary Deluxe Edition, but then again, they may not. I suspect they will, but I wouldn't count on it.

Exactly why I will be keeping a close eye on Bestbuy.com's GW items, and I will call to confirm my order and availability before I get there, and with plenty of time to change my order if they require it.

I've both ordered and pre-ordered guild wars, and I'm a bit worried that my package won't arrive here before the pre-order key stops working. Couldn't they give us beta-testers a week or so 'grace' period. Allowing us to log-in a day or two early is fantastic, but that doesn't address my general concern. Of course, if the package arrives here on-time, great.

"There is no subscription fee for Guild Wars anywhere in the world. The game was built from the ground up with this factor in mind, and we do not intend to change the policy. In fact, we have invested a great deal of time and resources to develop a network that will allow us to promise that there will be no fees in the future. The collector's edition look nice, with the headset and artbook and all the other stuff, but $80 is a bit too much for me. If I had the money, I would definately pick it up.

I just can't wait till the game comes out.
