Order of caculation for damage types

What order are types of damage calculated in?
For example, if a warrior is attacking a target and greater conflag. is used, all his physical damage is now fire damage but if grasping earth is now used, which gives +armour against physical, is the warrior's damage read as physical or elemental damage against grasping earth?

I know the obvious answer is that it is read as elemental damage but Ive noticed that spells such as order of the vampire, still seem to trigger with greater conflag up, even though it is only supposed to be trigerred when a party member hits a foe with physical damage.
