GuildWars Expansion Pack?
kalaris
Y'know before reading that, I did kinda feel that Guildwars was like Magic the Gathering, it was just the sense of it all.
I mean basically at 20 it starts out on a level playing field, with a pile of cards(skills, Equipment) and 2 colors(professions) to play with...
I mean what Anet's done here is pure Brilliance, they've taken the customization and strategy of MTG, one Class usually trumps another, but not always, its brilliant, the combinations alone, I don't think we'll ever see "the one true build to rule all builds" as next week someone will come up with a diffrent combination to beat it.
I want to congratulate them on their awesome product...
I don't think the level cap will ever be raised... its... just a dumb idea, if they design the content for level 20's then they never have to raise it, there really isn't a point to raising the cap anyway.
One thing I'd really like changed is to give armors new skins, or even "build" our own, using the stats of one set, but graphics of another.... like being able to customize armors better.... being a W/E I've been banished to Gladiator's Armor, and its really ugly. Granted I dyed it, but its still really ugly.
No real Advantage, but just asthetics, cause really all the warriors kinda look alike.
(ps I typed this post an hour ago and forgot to hit the button)

Kordesh
Level 32 dragon eh? I don't know what it's done or where it is, but I'm willing to put wave after wave of my men in harms way to kill it!
Sheriff Lobo
I salute you kordesh... you truly are an inspiration to all of the asses out there
Kordesh
Why do I have a feeling that Sheriff Lobo is misinterperating my *albeit slightly altered for context* quote of Captain Brannagin from Futurama describing his plan to kill the people of the Ball plannet *after stating he sent wave after wave of men against the killbots until their kill quota was met* as an attack against the war in Iraq? I'm not that ignorant, and thank you for killing a perfectly good joke /=
Sheriff Lobo
damn....that was pretty good....but you know you should have quoted old brannagin before saying it

lol....I suppose so...but then again it would have an adverse reaction by people if you randomly spewed a quote like...oh um...This concept of wuv confuses and infuriates us!!!...I know...its not a very good example
Kordesh
I think it would get an even bigger adverse reaction if I blurted out something about "human horn" and the fact that "The main event, so to speak, takes place below the belt, next to the wallet."

for those actually wondering about the next chapter here is what Gaile has to officially say
When we say "New chapter" we mean the next box, the next game. More than an expansion pack, it'll offer new regions, quests, monsters and a bunch of other new stuff. The next chapter is due in 6 to 9 months.

I think there are three major things that alot of people forget about, when they ask for the level cap to be raised.
1) When you do it once, you're going to do it again. You may be saying to yourself "just this one time", but you know that's a lie.
2) The game is about diversity and experimentation without worrying over screwing something up. It's been a long time since I've created a character on the premise of anything other than making it a powerful character. I created a ranger/necro because I liked the idea of communing with nature as I raised minions of death from the ground, heh.
I, a moderately slow player (simply because I like to explore and take my time with areas), would rather have 3 level 20 characters without having obsessed over the game every day. Instead of 1 level 50 character, or for that matter, 3 level 50 characters where I played 24/7.
3) What about new players down the road? When you're already level 20, a level cap of 30 doesn't seem so daunting. ..but what about someone starting out at 1?

In my opinion, the level cap needs to be raised. After 3 months of being level 20, with NO possible progression in your Character, i believe the game will get VERY boring
Loviatar
the reason the cap is best for all of us is they dont have to split their team making content for different level people but can give their best to all of us
from the GW people officially
Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill, so the level cap in Guild Wars is almost meaningless.

levels really dont account for much in the game other than hp and energy....I mean the skills are where this game really and truly shines
The undead Mesmer
do you know what we need in the expansion pack
NNNEww races like charr minotaur tengu grawl etc
you can play as a charr or mino and kill some humans
and you get to know the other side of the story.

thats actually a pretty good idea...though I don't think they would be able to implement a new race for quite a long time

I worry about how much I'll like this game in the long run, because of the 20 level restriction.
Here's a quote directly from the game synopsis:
http://guildwars.com/gameinfo/default.html
Ok, I picked a Mo/R because I know one of those professions has lots of skills that require manna, and the other one has very few. But, who's to say my decision is right? I worry that I will reach ascension, and then tweak my skillset, and then discover that I'll never be as good as a N/W (for example).
If there is unlimited levels, then I wouldn't worry. Getting to strong enough to join a certain group would always be possible, it just may take more work for me, based on my occupation choice. But, with level-capped games, you need to pick the best occupation during character creation, or else restart.

You'll never spend days playing, only to discover that the choices you made early have left you with a permanently uncompetitive character. The unique skill system in Guild Wars encourages infinite experimentation but doesn't allow early choices to limit a character. |

For your thirty bucks you got 90 days (call it somewhere between 90 and 500 hours) of entertainment.
If you now decide you'd rather pay someone so you can grind away some levels, go ahead. If not, $0.33 per hour (max) was very, very cheap entertainment.
In the meantime, those of us who picked up the game for it's intended purpose (competition) will likely continue to enjoy it.

they have gone to extreme length to make sure that there are no *broken* characters
if you are unhappy with your secondary profession you can change it after getting to level 20
if you are unhappy with the primary profession start another as it takes very little time to get to level20 again
there is no *best* character that will always win which is very nice in my opinion
Sheriff Lobo
yeah...in GW the devs went to great lengths to ensure that every class combination had their own strengths/weaknesses. It really wouldn't be very fun now would it if everyone in the game was uber. By which i mean everyone has high attack high hp etc.
