New to Game...

Hello all
I have been getting bored with EQ so i decided i might as well try out another Game, so i picked Guild Wars. I just a few quick questions i wanted to ask before i started a new character.

First. What are the most needed Classes of Guild Wars? The monk and Warrior come in mind as one would be the main Healer and the Other the main Damage Receiver. is there a particular Class Combo that is widely wanted?

Second. What are the most popular Classes/combos played in Guild Wars? are there any classes that everyone and their Brother play?

Third. Are There any useless classes or combos in Guild Wars?

Healing monks are always in high demand in the later missions.

Everyone and their brothers and dogs and goats and ant farms play Warrior/Monks. Ugh.

If Warrior/Monks are very popular, why are monks so highly needed? can they not heal as well? or just a prime healer is better?

55 monk

2 professions that not many play but that are very useful are mesmer and necro. They can wreak havoc and do all kinds of damage.

the 55 HP monk is a solo farming build.

a genuine healing monk that wants to group and help is worth their weight in gold .

most seem to be greedy .........who simply want to 55 the top high value areas

warriors get a small energy pool compared to any caster, and monk primaries can put points into divine favor, which heals for 3 extra points per point in that attribute when you cast any monk spell on an ally. w/mo is really for farming, thats why there are so many, same with mo/w.

well for new comers, do a warrior monk, thats the best one for beginners.

Monks are needed because by the later stages npc henchmen aren't really good enough to do the missions with and most people haven't got a clue about how to heal themselves. Problem with being a monk is that people put a lot of faith into them, so if the party screws up the monk normally gets the blame.

There are few monks b/c most ppl prefer having a more damage inflicting character such as a fire magic elementalists or warriors. Warrior/Monks are so popular and also such a pain because they normally heal themselves only, and as such have an air of invincibility about them, thinking they can attack more enemies at once than they can possibly handle.

Other popular builds later in the game are necromancers with summons (minion masters), and the previously mentioned fire ele (nuker). Up until the later stages npc henchmen can be used to balance a party no problem. The main thing is to choose a character you think you will enjoy playing with, rather than one you think would make you more attractive to a recruiting party of players.

Thanks for the Replys all. After reading a few guides and looking around to see what others think, i am looking at being a Ranger/Necro. This combo just seems to suit me and i like the idea of having a Pet and an Army of Undead guys following me around =)
