I am sure somebody already suggested this before... but to post it out again.
All Pets should have its own inherent skills. It is true that pet really got their skill from their beastmaster master, but giving them some minor skills would really make the Pet more stand out and vary from one another. Also they should learn/gain more skill later one, as they become higher in level, and differnt by the way they are raise. (differnt between Dire and Hearty)
Example might be:
Wolf: Rush
Dire Wolf: Hamstring
Hearty Wolf: Healing Sig
Warthog: Bull's Strike
Dire Warthog: Power Attack
Hearty Warthog: Endure Pain
Spider: Apply Posion
Snow Wolf: Deep freeze
stuff like that (feel free to give out more suggestions on differnt pet's skills)
And of couse thier attribute level will be not as good as that of human (maybe at max have power effect at attribute of 6)
Also feel free to suggest what other type of pet you would like to see, and what skill would fit for them.
Giant Rat:Consume Corpse
Lava Lizard: Flare
Giant Panda: Crushing Blow
Bunny: Vile Touch?

-And a Way to dye pets? maybe can dye in differnt parts, head, body, hands, and leg, and can only use pet dyes with only brown, white, black, gray, blond. (the more natural color.... since would be strange to see a green bear or purple Warthog) Would be fun to see panda looking bears.
-Pet Emots. Teach your pet to do tricks. /Pet you Pet.
-Pet Food? Use to feed you pets. With enough feeds of a kind (or combination of it) will turn your pet into Dire, Hearty, or differt evolution.
-Pet Armor. Have things like Lash or Harness. Can have property to increase its armor, or its attack power, depend on what kind you choose. Equip in Mater's offhand. Might also add Beastmastery offhand item, like Whip. (+5 energy, 25% of +1 in beast mastery, etc)
-Pets for everyone? With all the fun feature, might also need to make it where allow all class to get a pet. But those without ranger primary or sendary's pet can not attack and does not level up. They will only be for looks. (might not even use the skill Charm Animal for it, but just equip an item for them to show)
-More Pet sound effect. Have Wolf Howl and bark occasionally. Lizzard hiss and lynx purrrrrr.

Hope to see some good/fun suggestion on future pets, and possible pet skills that link with them. (also for the exisiting one as well)

I like the fact that the pets would have certain skills. Good idea, but I'm not too sure about the emotes and food
Lord Of Losers
how about a chained human slave as a pet
special skill: falling down face first *gets feet tangled by chains*
bio: completely useless, lags behind cuz he/she keeps falling down.

Love the idea of the skills, and the skill examples
Not too sure about dying the pets though...but armor would be nice

I'd rather not.
I think that pets are fine without extra effects; I want my pet doing what I tell it to. Improve the AI, improve pathing and controls, make them dye-able (not red, but neat coat patterns for example - lizards and Moa would go bright colours more likely, wolves and stalkers would get different animal prints and such).
Special abilities would be VERY difficult to balance. It would nearly undoubtedly result in one pet being better than others pretty much. I'm fine with them just being different skins. What I'd like though is a chance to help rebalance the current skills, to actually get them right.
