Ranger pets and switching secondaries

If you're setup as a /Ranger secondary, and you decide to switch, do you lose your pet? Let's say I'm N/R, and then switch to /Me for some reason; when I switch back to /R can I get me old buddy back, or am I SOL?

Your pet will be there anytime you have charm animal in your skillbar, you won't loose it if you switch away from ranger secondary.
