only pve so what is your problem? compare this with getting run to get Drok armor and it is a piffle, lighten up alreadyQuote:
| I'm cool with it as a fun little holiday treat, but I'd be a little perplexed if they stick around beyond the event. |
i think that the average person may get a dozen or two candy canes, the average hoarder will probably have 250...and once these are all used up, i could forsee them going for 1,000 each without much difficulty...2,000 by april or may would not surprize me. the dp removal isnt the greatest effect in the world, but its useful, especially in occasions when one moron gets half the party knocked off and the mission becomes near impossibile to mass-dp..they are merely conveniant. however, they are the closest thing anet has to life-potions, and in that respect, once they run out, their value should spike. i dont think it will get too high, because the average player who would use them most, cant afford to buy them fpr 5k or some other insane amount, but 1-2k would not at all surprize me.

for me the use will be that very long mission/area where my DP has been 60% and each time i come back to take down just one more of them and now i face the boss (whips out candy cane of DP nullification) and charges to sure victory (or doom)will use sparingly
Here's how to get lots of them:
Take ranger primary or secondary - Edge of Extinction.
Go to Nolani Academy.
Go outside.
Kill bucketloads of gargoyles using E/E.
Swap 1 gargoyle skull for 1 candy cane from the necro collector at Ascalon.
Get hundreds of thousands of candy canes, give away lots in the spirit of Wintersday/Xmas/Whatever holiday you celebrate around this time of year, and be smug in the knowledge you've messed up someone's greedy exploits, because if they're totally commonplace nobody's going to pay for them (not much anyway)

If everyone saves some candy canes, then no one should worry about exploit and price hike. I am saving lots of it so I'll never have to buy from someone else. Who knows, maybe missions in chapter 2 are going to be extremely hard. Hopefully they don't take them away after wintersday, because I want to use them for my Fissure run for fissure armor as well.
i hope they DO take them away. I dont see why i should have to farm for a holiday item just so i can be in an equal situation with other people. The canes are a joke as new players obviosly wont be able to get them where as old players will have stockpiled them and will have an advantage for quite a while.
The candy weapons are fun tho

Which leads me to my next question anyone confirm the candy cane works in FoW/UW yet?

tisc tisc,so many flamers of good opinions~ There is alot of potential use for these, duos in UW, and any solo farmer will be paying out the yang for a Item that removes their Dp and allows them to maintain the spawn they were working. this also openes up other options in the game. in UW you can now have a necro run thru with monk enchants and aggro several heards of dying nightmares and in effect killing them with their own rends. only to be rezed and candy cane off your DP. Now I am sure I will get posters griping that they kill dying nightmares as monk fine even with the two hit 55 hp and no enchants. And all kinda ways to twist what I say but know this, these items are cyber crack for solo farmers, stock up and get some of that ecto/IDS money they been hoarding.I will have to check back later and see how many have tried to find some inconciequent detail to add to a chance to argue with me, will be funny to read some flames in misspelled l33t speak about how I am a moron for stating the obvious- have fun with that, the only chance of a deminshed value is a permenant item with the same effect, and even at that you could get 75% of its merchant cost for somthing free.

I dont think they ll be worth a lot ..even when removed
cauz actually, u r not supposed to use em
u r not supposed to remove ur dp a lot ^^ unless u r doing an important coop mission and all ur party has a -60dp or so, u dont need those...
My point is, i d only use em in FoW/UW Missions, i dont care of dp when wandering in desert or around LA, just rezone and u just lose a few minutes
So if u r plyaing as a good team, u wont need tons of those ^^

My wife reports that they're almost as de rigeur as rez sig on tough PvE missions already.
As for candy cane weapons -- every PvE warrior should have a candy cane wand, unless she always puts enough points into her secondary profession's attributes to allow for a better ranged weapon. Wands damage based on char level, not any attribute, so candy cane wands are the best zero-req ranged weapons in the game.
Some might even say that they are ... sweet!
