Am i the only one?

lol.. i used 2 play D2... then, it just got old really fast.
ppl come into a game called "Trading", with their lvl 99 characters, go hostile on ur ass, and pwn ur lvl 24 barb when you leave the safety of the town... oh yea... great fun there!
then, you and your friends are playing on LAN, and they are 20 lvls higher than you and u pwn them all at the same time, without using hacks of course... your friends accuse you of hacking, and you just keep kicking their ass with your lvl 23 Shapeshifting Druid... oh yea... great fun there!
Start out a new character, go into a LAN game with the same friends mentioned above, go outside the town, kill urself a boss monster, and look what drops... a complete set... oh yea... great fun there!
All this happened on a wonderful mod called Eastern Sun...
and, if you got the idea that i LIKE D2, your wrong... i did like it when i first played it, but now, its just gay... gay gay gay... GW pwns it all across the board...

Well, I was refering to someones way of saving money and convincing his girl that guild wars was a better alternative to being in a bar wasting money. |
lol... it IS a better alternative... you can drink your beer at home and also play GW at the same time! that way, your not wasting your money at a bar drinking, but spending it wisely and drinking beer at home!
sadly though, i cant do that because im only 16... my mom would kill me..

but, i could see it being boring if you have to test the new Powerpuffs game, or a new Barbie brain scrambler, or something of that sort...

I too am 43, addicted, and so is my Girlfriend and both my kids (ages 10 and 12). The four of us started our own guild "Council of Tears" (an homage to my first RPG game, Anarchy Online.)
Character name is Rick Deckard and/or Mazor Rackham if you want to look me up!

What's less obvious is that i'm 43, married with 3 kids - 2 of them also GW. So, I just wondered if there are other players out there that are my age. Don't be shy guys and post replies to this thread. Maybe we can create a guild together... |
Im 43, 2 kids, one wife, hehe.
None of which play any computer games.

31 and married, 2 year old daughter, a son on the way. My guild is similarly mature, with at least one player in his 60s. Not unusual at all My Clan for DoD is similar, with an average age in the high 20s-low 30s, quite a few in the 40s and 2 grandfathers shooting folks.

I'm 35, married and have a professional career. And I too see how this game has the potential to be very addictive. It's always walking the razor's edge when one has a spouse/family and finds joy from such a time-consuming endeavour.
My wife and I have had some discussions about this over the last week, especially when I mentioned joining a guild. Our discussions brought up some interesting thoughts, and I saw how important it is for spouses who don't play, yet who try to be supportive, to feel that what we're all doing here is safe, and not a threat to our relationships or our families. Because of that, I've considered initiating a guild for married couples and for those whose spouses don't play, called {IDo} In Devotion Of.
The idea would be to create a positive community for playing couples, married soloists, and married/single parents with families, who simply want to meet with others like themselves, or who want to lessen the amount of time searching for likeminded players and get the most out of the time that they do have. I wasn't thinking so much of a competitive guild as much as a recreational guild for PvE/PvP and RP players. Of course if we had a good team, we could always try our hand at more advanced competition.
If you think that you may be interested in something like this, or have any ideas in this direction yourself, please send me a private message. I have a website with some space for a community subdomain, which I've already started designing some. The guild name is already registered, and we could pretty much make it up as we go.
Whether on a casual, competitive or roleplaying level, we are creating relationships here and devoting a considerable amount of our time toward creating enjoyable and worthwhile gaming experiences. It would be nice to find others who enjoy it as much as I, and who understand the responsibilites of balancing their joy of playing with a life and family.

I edited my post above, to add a little more information. A guild for married players and those with families might seem like a silly idea to some, as one may think that a group of casual players would suck in PvP. And they may be right... but that's not what putting a guild like this together is really about. It's more about community than competition.

33, with a husband, no kids, but busy with my career (also in games).
So it is games 24 hours for me, unless I gravitate to the pub for a beer or 2.

I'm 27 and my girlfriend is very understanding about my GW time. I think she's happy I'm not paying a monthly fee.
Sometimes she lures me away from the game with a cup of coffee or a cold beer though.

I'm 22 and a full time college student at the moment. Got my mate to into GW and hes hooked. Definatly much easier to play when both are involved, no wories about not spending time with them lol. But I have to say I've always had more fun playing with older gamers, usually they are more mature than the little kids running around. I may have patience for newbies but not for annoying children lol. Usually those at least 20 something and up are actually friendly and like helping out other guild members.

im 16, leader of my own guild, and i always help out guild members... maybe im just a really mature 16 year old...
and i also help out anyone who needs it... just in case u want my help as well...

I'm 28 (althought I feel older), married 10yrs next month, four kids all 7 and under.
I used to be a 'game widow'. My hubby would spend all his time playing FF Online. I couldn't get his attention for nothing. I completely understand how that can afect a marriage.
Thankfully GW came along and we play together every night. Buying two games was a bit expensive, but it sure beats marriage counseling!

wow i'm surprised about the age group here unlike some other games i've played. some free mmogs i play are mostly in the 13-21 year old age group. over here is seems much higher maybe cause you have to buy the game which makes a big difference. I like it!
oh yeah i'm 31 one, not married but with gf. also i'm trying to get my ex manager hooked on this he's around 50 with wife. but he's addicted to games and other mmogs i introduce him to.
