Just a thought about Candy Cane Weapons
Valheru
Lets just say someone totally new to GW comes in after Wintersday and plays as per normal, gets experienced at PVE, and decides to try PVP.
Then he or she runs into builds that utilize Candy Weapons from Wintersday (like an IW mesmer using a CC axe for example), though not giving those people a massive advantage, still, they are more effective than any character the Post-Wintersday GW player could make.
Imbalance? This situation would be similar to the +5 en Denravi Sword. It is nice to have unique weapons yes, but it is at the expense of widening the power gap between new and old players...
I wonder what you folks think? Anyone would hate to want to make a build, but then get owned by an EXACT copy of that build, having the only difference being an equipment that is unobtainable to them because they came too late.

Um, how are they disadvanaged? They have the characteristics of the existing weapons (and the bow is a shortbow). Sure, it looks cool, but that's the only difference. It hardly going to cause imbalance.

On a side note it would be amusing to see a trend of successful tomb parties running around with candy items

From my understanding, a CC weapon can not be modded. Which means you can't slap on an Enchant 20% mod, which is probably more usefull to an IW then the no requirement benefit.
I don't see the imbalance to be honest.
CC weapons have a specific use, but don't see it in pvp or I'm missing something.

Candy cane weapons ARE imbalanced. When you're stuck in Dreadnaught's Drift for days on end, you have a source of food.
OMG ANet please nerf
OMG ANet please nerf

rofl. If you got killed by candy it would be funny
Anyway, I don't think they would be unbalanced because candy doesn't do max damage.

Did you get different CC weapons? Becuase my CC Bow only does 15 max dmg, which is worse than a req.3 marks bow >_>
I want your uber CC Bow that does 1000-1000 dmg, has long bow range, and is faster than shortbow. (Atleast thats how you are playing it as).

Nope it isn't. It seems this is the first post of someone implicitly calling for a nerf of Candy Cane Weapons.
The poster does have a minor point though: there can be a small advantage to using these weapons for some specific characters. For example, my raner/war does not use tactics and is now using a ginger bread shield as this gives her slightly more armour with a 0 requisite. The advantage is not significant and if someone really wanted a candy cane weapon, I am sure he or she could buy one without too much trouble for a modest amount of gold in 6 months time.

I am still waiting for someone to suggest "omg gingerbread shield is an uber item, ANET please nerf it", maybe a thread will show up after this wintersday event is over.
Yes, they are better than regular weapons with no requirement, but personally I never think much about them nor do I feel that HoD sword is overpowered. Heck, before SF update Denravi sword had been in the game for FIVE full months since GW release, and where were those people (who feel HoD swords would imbalance the game) back then? So I actually applaud anet's effort to make holiday items useful, and GW is too balanced a game to allow this slight advantage to offset it.
