Exact time delay of back to back casting

For casters, I know that there is a time delay between the casting of spells. IE even though Flare has a 1 second casting time and no recharge time, you can't cast 5 flares in 5 seconds, due to the time delay in between each of them. Does anyone know the exact time delay? I have tested this in Competition Arenas, and my estimate is about a 1/2 second delay.
