i dont think so, thats very improbable. Few expansions have the original game in it..

The general discussion I have read/heard is that chapter 2 will be a stand alone game, not requiring the original. Characters from chapter 1 can cross over but I would think you would need chapter 1 installed as well

NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN EXPANSION.it will contain new content equal to or greater than the original game.
it will also be full price for a new *CHAPTER* of GW
it says all FUTURE chapters will be optional but that hints the original will be needed.
if so a promotion of buy chapter 2 get chapter 1 for free would sell a lot

I thought I had heard that sometime in Feb. was the release...I could be VERY wrong here. If it is a stand alone game, then how will bringing your characters over be beneficial? When I hear stand alone, I think that you start from scratch...lvl 1, no skills. If I bring in 2 lvl 20's with max armor and max weapons will those items become useless? I do plan on going with the new classes that will be available but how do you think your old classes will work?

the one thing GAILE/ALEX have yelled is that the only forum you can use for dates is the GW site and everybody else is guessing.my guess is late april for a 1 year anniversary

-Chapter 2 will most likely be a buyable expansion or something, not a free update like Sorrow's Furnace.
-ANet would NEVER betray us with monthly fees. If it does come out in the form of an expansion, it'll still be a onetime fee to buy it.
-There may or may not be a downloadable .exe setup file that you can acquire on their site by paying via paypal (I've seen it done for other games).
-If it's stand alone, you may be given the opportunity to do new characters, or transfer over your normal GW characters.

mostly wrong.not an expansion.
it is a new CHAPTER with a full games content and a full games price.
your characters will be able to continue in chapter 2 and there will be additional character slots to try the new professions.
