So I was a healer monk in a fow group and there had been no probs and we were doing great. (the leader was a bit bossy and on edge though) Anyways we played for awhile and we were heading back from doing a qst and I was picking up stuff others had left behind... and the leader started freaking out and calling me a scavenger noob and that they would never party with me again.... What is the deal with that??? Im sorry Im not poor but I had planned on staying down there awhile and had two sup salvage kits and I was just salvaging things to get some materials.. cant someone play the game and pick things up and not be a noob and poor. I thought the GW community was bad when I started it seems to be getting worse.

You haven't met that type of Gamer before right?

Get used to it, you are on the Internet now. They are everywhere.

They have very specific codes and things you must do and say. They are usually the ones that plan for hours and want everyone to do everything just how they want it, and if they still get beat or soemthing happens, they go off on you like everything.

Don't worry about it Draco . I'd be glad not to party with him ever.

Some people in the game like to move fast and never stop and wait. It's not that your a 'scavenger' that makes him pissed off, it's that your a healing monk and 'supposed' to keep up.

I believe that the there are many many more nice people in the community than the bad apples. You just never stop and realize the nice things people are doing everyday .

I would have figured they would have picked them up when they dropped though. oh well, I dont mind being called a noob.

No, scavenging isn't wrong, especially if you weren't fighting, or planning on fighting.

If I am down there, I'll take everything I can, a little bit here and there adds up, to a lot, down the road.

Power to the scavengers!

Nothing wrong with it at all, if people dont want stuff then grab it. How are material traders gonna work if sound scavenger type people like yourself are deterred by impatient gits like that

Every time I go "under", the team eventually decides to leave, sometimes after a couple hours, sometimes after a bit longer. Regardless, I roll back the entire area and pick up all leftovers, usually bringing in a couple extra plat just for being a pick-a-roo.

While picking, I keep giggling at these team members that left before picking up their stuff but complained the entire time that there is no gold to be made in this game.

Ironically it's always the same people that say "I'm poor" that never pick up everything that drops for them. Silly fow people that probably don't even make back the 125 they contributed to get in there.

I'm quite wealth, but I still pick up some abandoned items. I do so either out of salvaging or merchant selling purposes. As Dralspire said, I can usually leave a game with will over 5plat. I love the stupid FoW crafter; he loves buying random crap.

If you are picking up other peoples drops that they havent got round to picking up yet, i'd say thats a little bad-mannered. if its crap white items or whatever, then i think you're ok. I'd probably be pretty pissed off though if something dropped for me and i didn't have time to collect it because someone aggroed some more enemies then someone swoops in in front of me on the way back.

well the truth is, you'll never really be fighting for like 5 minutes straight, and thats about how long it takes to make whatever a free drop. also, theres nothing wrong with being a scavenger. how can they complain if they never even bother to TRY to make some plat.

The only time I have a problem with that is if I am the monk/healer and the battle lasts more then the time for the item to become free game. Many times I have had gold items drop for me while I am Healing everyone and the item times out before I can get to it. Then some Item ninja comes along and snatches it up before I can get it. Then the guy has the nerve to flame me for asking for it back. Saying i am the Noob.........Pah!! that is the last time I ever heal him again. So he spends the rest of the mission dead unless his Guildy brother rez's him. But that won't matter once he has significant DP on him. He will be useless. So he can choke on that gold item.

.... OMG Item ninja! XD HAHAHA!

*composes himself*

Well, it's dog-eat-dog out there ... i'm with most of the people in this thread, including the OP, by saying that there isn't really a time where you can't pick up your drops before moving on to the next group ... unless you've got a leeroy jenkins, in which case just let him die until you're finished, and then move on

man i'm still crackin up about Item Ninja ... can I make a guild called the Item Ninjas? ... lol ... "Item Ninjas have won a battle in the Hall of Heroes ..."

The only times I'd get upset about it is if someone was lagging behind causing everyone to wait, or the situation described above.

I've had this happen many times, either to myself or someone in my party, where people just can't get to an item until someone else has already snatched it (or worse, convinces everyone not to rez the party member until they've stolen their shard / weapon / drop). And then they dance around singing the Finders Keepers song.

Definite lack of class, and I definitely won't ever team with that sort of person again.

If you took stuff that nobody else was bothering with, I think thats fine, but I wouldnt agree with anyone picking up someone elses drops before they have a chance to get them.

I don't see anything wrong with it either. If they didn't want it, it is fair game for anyone to pick up. He was probably mad because he was planning on doing the same thing and you beat him to it.

Lol. I plan (not for hours) but I do plan. I don't expect everyone to do what I say though >_>

I like to pick up useless things to salvage them as well. I stopped though, because it takes too much time and I have little use for materials.

Whenever a gold item drops is I try to distract the owner of it by dancing naked and then sitting my rear end on it to make him leave the party so I can have it.

By the way I am a skinny Asian Warrior, so it has a great effect.

Is that wrong?

I think not! That is Guild Wars PVE system at its finest right there!

Oh, and if someone yells at you, be defiant. It's not like they can hit you or anything. Just stand there after you grab all of your items and say you won't heal him until he apologizes. Acting like a defiant little kid can solve all of your problems.

if your not fighting at the moment, it should be fine. especially since my guild mates always fight over for drops when names disappear.

but then the thing that pisses me off is when the group goes on ahead and my guildies stay behind constantly clicking on a dark remain in hopes to get it first when the name disappears. then that would really tick me off. damn guildies. >.<
