Just wondering how rare this is, got it from a chest. (purple, armor 40, unid)
I've never seen one, and a few of my friends said they haven't either.

yeah.. you cant wear it.. you just get upgrades and materials from them, you'l find them often later in the game

thanks jd, it WAS a uw chest. Not a phantom but a UW quest chest, which I know can drop things that are scarsely found elsewhere. The point isn't that I can't use the item, it's the rarity of it.
ps. I love how Wind colossus treats me like I'm some kind of noob. "Later in the game" ... wind have YOU ever seen a phantasmal armor? Maybe YOU will find them often later in the game.

i think its just the set armor type for UW ... like in regions with specific creature types reflects the name of the armor ...i was looking into it a lil
