hmm i have to agree somehow, in the past 5 or so runs, i havent gotten ANY drops from smites... wierd. and i dont even farm that often. maybe like...

try waiting for the grasping group in the next room to move far enough away to pass by, and if possible wait for all of the Aatxes to get together...
i found it pretty easy to go out of camp rankor and kill the griffons using hench&heroes. got 5 frosted griffon wings in about 7 runs.... then...
