Is it true that old skins (i.e prophecies) cannot have +5 energy mods on them? And does this include UW items such as eternal bows, even though they can be accessed by both games?

I would assume that a +5 Eternal Bow might exist because the mod changes are gamewide?

I got told that the Tyrian skins couldn't get it, but I seem to remember peopel discovering +5 energy mods before factions came out...and I also thought it would be strange, that since UW is accessible on both games, Eternal Bow isnt technically a 'Tyrian' skin

yes you can get +energy mods in tyria, if you remember BEFORE they realsed factions there was an update and it said something like 'made it able to get +5 energy weapons'.
as this was before factions it must have applied to tyria, and thus the old skins

Sweet. I've been wondering if they existed but haven't seen them selling anywhere so I pretty much gave up on the idea that chaos axes could drop with +5 energy built in. I've always liked chaos axes as a running weapon and also think they would look nice for a caster.

Yes, they can drop now in tyria. Pre-factions, you could get +5 energy items from HoD but that was it.

Hmm, not so sure that tyrian weapons can have +5 energy inherent. Maybe they can drop from UW/FoW/Tombs. But I've not seen many Tyrian skins with this.

as it has been stated, serpent axes and many other weapons drop BOTH in Tyria and in Cantha.
I firmly believe that +5 energy weapons drop only in Cantha. I've been wanting a +5 FDS since the beginning of the +5 weapons, and I still have to even see one of them. Same with +5 fellblades, so I don't think that UW drops any.
As a sidenote, I also firmly believe this to be a bug.

I think you can get +5 energy weapons only for cantha's (and those in common with Tyria) skins. Chaos axes: they drop both from chap 1 and chap 2. Brute swords: they drop also in chap 2. Serpent: they drop also in chap 2. Recurve bows: they drop also in chap 2. Might be wrong, but that's what i thought.

Never seen a +5 Chaos Axe up to now, sorry.
However, it is true that +5 weapons dropped in Tyria during those famous "2 days in which HoD swords dropped to 10% of their usual cost", so I would assume some rare-skinned tyrian weapon with +5 may exist.
I still think that the way they "blocked" these weapons from dropping when they accidentally let them is still in place, and it shouldn't.
