I went and got the update... and now I can't get in.
In various towns/districts, or any mission, I can't get in. It sits at the Connecting screen for 30-45sec then I get something about a networking or routing error and a code=05.... I can't do anything.

I only get the first half of the guildwars sign in and thats it and the second half on the right hand side wont even pop up im on the eastern of the us its weird was working fine this afternoon finished the deep now i cant even log in its annyoing

It amounts to the same thing as your post suggests - decent people not in charge. Architects are needed. They can't handle the pressure, the system of servers. Everyone came cause it's the weekend and there's a special event and the server balance is out of whack. Now everyone keeps trying to log on and it's gonna take hours for them to find some bandwidth free to let us in.

Yesterday there was a message on the login screen about an emergency network update. I of course did not read this and logged straight in.
Did anybody take notice of when this was meant to occur?

I know what the problem is. The WoW people have resorted to suicide bombing our servers. Their level 60s pwn our level 20s in their suicide stuff.

All that message was saying was that European servers were having problems and they were doing maintenance on it. Supposedly they'd fixed it, and that's why they removed the message in the News list.

whenever i try to login into gw, it doesnt direct me to any servers. i tried disabling my firewall n stuff but it doesnt work. n i also already reconfigure my firewall to allow gw to connect to the internet n it still doesnt work. anyone have any idea what to do?

Yes it was "at the time" The entire European Server Member Community was not able to log on.
What i did notice is when you are on login screen, the connection indicator on top right of screen seems to keep rising for ever.. My internet connection is only 5MB/Sec and the indicator showed me a value of 4.8MB/sec after only 2 minutes.
Like a memory leak ..
Also when the problem arised, I noticed that when I was sitting inside Monastery, people started dissapearing.. one by one until there was only 2 of us left .. and when I tried to "switch" districts, the button Froze.
Then I tried to switch towns and got booted. Then tried to log on and got error. Now "Network announcements" don't even show up.

The handling of pressure does make sense, but when the Jade Orbs came out on that last weekend thing, there were heaps on.
How is this different to that?

Yeah I was reading about somoene's post about their password becoming messed up and then losing his accounts due to not having the CD key and ANET blames him because he should have his CD key from a year ago. >_> Just like this Code 058 message how it's just instantly blamed on our routers but, yeah I joined the club. If this proceeds to go on any longer then we deserve another elite weekend. I'm so tired of updates screwing everything up. ESPECIALLY when people are actually doing something *Cough deep in Urgoz cough*.

I am having 058 like few minutes ago...it disconnect me to the server....and now I can't even login!! when I open guildwars...there is no announcement anymore. this means we didn't even connect to the server.....what is going on??
