I love how they clarified "twice as likely." Sorry, no double Celestial items for you.

What's the current ratio for Purple:Gold anyways? I thought it was about 3:2...so will it now be 2:3?

Also, what is a "Canthan chest?" Is it any chest in Cantha, or only chests in Kaieng City?

Anyways, I don't think I can help newbies this time. heh.

No, I think this is Anet's way to make up for all those players who left Canta and went straight for Tyria after Shing Jea island :P
They need to come back, because they are unhappy customers, and will most likely not buy chapter three.

Too bad they are canthan chests. Those don't count towards the title and more often than not give just off perfect dmg. I think I'll sit this one out.

I agree. Nahpui Quarter will likely be busy for chest running, but other than that, I don't really see how this "event" is truly anything special.

The Elite Mission event - now that was special, IMO, even without (at least for the first day or so) the double rare drops that were advertised.

Meh Canthan chests. Nice that there actually doing events for the pve side..but Canthan chests? Might as well be Shing Jea Island chests.

Thats doesnt mean im not gonna buy a ton of keys and see what I get.

This should be all chests in Cantha (ie. Factions) and I'll be surprised if it isn't but once again they have been ambiguous. Double rares only from chests called Canthan is pretty useless. What's next? double Green drops on Shing Jea?

Raisu has Forbidden Keys, not Canthan, so if it's only the true Canthan Chests, it's really not worth it...

Because, once you're there, the next logical step is to get people to move into the Luxon/Kurzick territories a couple weeks later.

They're drawing people into Factions that may have chosen to stay in Tyria. Get them involved, pull them towards Nightfall.

I'll Farm Nahpui Quarter again sure.

BTW Canthan Chests are the second most farmed chests in Cantha behind Forbiddon Chests. People farm Nahpui Quarter for the Celestal Weapons, and the unusually good mods the weapons have.

Can we get an explaination Please. The site states this,

The word cantha like tyria has two meanings. Does it mean keining city, or The whole continent. Wheres gaile!

Well, Cantha usually means the whole continent, otherwise it would have said Kaineng, surely?

Example: I wouldn't understand if it said "...you'll find yourself twice as likely to nab a rare drop from ANY chest in Tyria" and only meant Ascalon.

So this is, what, the fifth weekend event in a row?

Guild faction/champion point bonus (? was this it? i can't remember), arena faction/gladiator point bonus, Nightfall weekend, Elite Mission weekend, and now chest weekend. I wonder how long they'll keep this up.

Neat though. I really like that they're doing things like this; be as cynical as you want about needing to keep people playing, it's certainly encouraging me to keep it up.
