code=045 permanent ban o.O wha?

wow! I used to read posts about bans and somewhat assume anet had reasons for them. But here I am permanently banned (code=45) for no reason i am aware about. I don't farm often and if i do it's for the heck of playing w/ ppl i like. i don't sell anything that's not a worthy green to be able to afford armor. I don't engage in any arguments on Guild Wars. and I am in complete bafflement as to why i am banned. The code I got says that my account has been banned for advertising a site that includes 3rd party programs that compromise account security. The only site I have ever mentioned on GW is Guildwiki.org cuz it a great place to get a lot of info for newer players.
I am not aware of any programs on this site if anything they have a section on how to keep yourself safe on GW.
Weird thing is I haven/t mentioned Guildwiki more than about 3-4 times to Guildies and that's it. I was playing last night and everything was fine- this morning I couldn't get my connection to even start or get me to the login page. Every time I hit the GW icon it would tell me path not found. then the window connecting to Anet would pop up randomely when i hadn't even activated it. I couldn't stop GW from trying to connect it kindda freaked me out so I reinstalling GW. That didn't work, so I rebooted my entire PC reinstalling everything back to the manufacturers defaults and reinstalled GW, at which point i was able to get to the login page only to get a banned message?????? Anyone know what is going on???
I am completely in the dark.

GuildWiki it completly okay site to talk about. Just send an email to arenanet. Uninstalling and reinstalling will not help this due to it's your account banned only arenanet can take it off.

Luna, occassionally mistakes happen. The best way is to keep pestering support about it until they look into your case.

I used to be wary about people who said they were banned for no reason but ever since that mass banning of innocent people, I'm far more inclined to believe people now.

It's probably another mistake by ANET. Just keep petitioning them to take a look at your account and it should be fixed....but I've heard it sometimes takes weeks. I'm really tired of seeing ANET ban innocent people.

First off there is nothing wrong with your computer, the bann is from the GW servers.

Send the support request and always respond in less than 24 hrs. All tickets are closed after 24 hrs of inactivity.

omg i hope it works itself out, i emailed Anet -_- i like this game enough to start over and buy another copy. But i also now have a sense of uncomfort about the game itself....being banned out of the blue, makes me weary of spending more money on this game to have it potentionaly happen again.
I really hope it is not because of Guildwiki's site that would suck as I really do think the site is very helpful.

Yea, definitely contact ANet/NCSoft support about this. If you haven't done anything wrong, I have confidence in them to correct this. May take a couple emails back and forth, though. Just keep bugging them, and they'll fix it for ya

The same thing happened to me in the referenced mass banning. I am having a hard time understanding why you didn't immediately contact support and let them know exactly how you feel about this.

i like this game enough to start over and buy another copy

You already own a copy of the game and unless you are truly guilty of some egregious violation of the EULA shouldn't have to feel this way.

IMO you have every right to be pissed off and should be. I suggest letting them know about it. Repeatedly.

I think we all worry about this one after some recent happenings. Makes me wonder now how many times I told people about guru and gave them the addy for this place. I guess we all just write a note to self to not discuss websites on GW. Let us know if you get your account unbanned.

I of course emailed ANet asap and will keep bugging them. And as angry as this ban has made me I feel if I show any anger in my emails to them they will be less willing to help. After all I am dealing w/ ppl. Of course I wanna yell and demand my account back. But it's hard Anet holds all the cards. You can't help but feel a little helpless even if it their actions are unjustified. To my previous comment "I like this game before to start over" I meant it, not becuase i feel i should have been banned but becuase I have read too many threads on the account ban topics it's hard to have hope.
After all in the next 24 hours a email will let me know what the heck they decided. If they don't unban my account then I may yell and cuss. My first email was basically what i had written here. it was polite. But no i don't like haveing spent months on characters and items etc... and $120 on the games and the fact that i just got factions and barely got to play it. This whole decision falls on 1 person that gets my email and that sux

well I know they did another Bot wipe yesterday. However... I would expect Anet to help you out on the incident. Just make sure you communicate to them that if anything was done you would like to know what it was and how to rectify it. They will listen. It also helps to present them with your IP address in private, not ticket... to allow them to compair logs and nicks... It could be your nick was similar or something and got hit by mistake. I have seen it happen with a simple typo on the hash even... So it could be any number of things. But don't worry the account is not Purged yet... You should still be able to get some assistance on the matter and when you get your account back everything should still be there. But you have to act now. after a few weeks those are normally wiped...

Whats really weird is it normally takes a lot to get a perm ban. I mean you got to throw a mess of flags and a warning normally first. so if it just happened whamo no warning... its probably a mistake.

I wonder if you got your accoutn stolen.

Go somewhere thousands of bots farm, and see how many are there...

All you can do to get your account back is submit a ticket.

It is possible you were hacked by a gold seller/hack seller, who spams from your account, so their personal account doesn't get banned.

I cant add any more than other posters have about your ban problem.
I would just like to say that guildwiki is not only acceptable to Anet, they encourage players to use it.

I have contacted the support team on more than one occasion for different reasons.
Any time I have contacted them on an issue having to do with any sort of in-game content the first place they suggest I go is to guildwiki. So, there is no problem going there or talking about it.

Of course the fact that they ignore my question and send me to guildwiki is another story,......
